I am waiting for an estimate from Pete @ intense.

How much confidence do you have in your machinest? I've found they are generally the best mechanics out there, but also keep in mind nothing beats a shop with tons of experience on your platform.

e30cabrio 04-26-2011 04:39 PM

The machinist was chosen by the mechanic. It took him over a month to get the motor where it is now.

The first shop I called when told who did the machine work said he would need the work checked before he accepted the job. :(

I did this a minute ago:

Frontier coolant outlet cover.

PROGRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope everything works out for you man!

A good builder should check measurements as they go anyway, if for no reason but their own piece of mind.

GL with your build. I will be looking at doing something similar in the future.

the_coupe 04-27-2011 05:30 AM

seems like im not the only one with a slow build now ;)

e30cabrio 04-27-2011 05:52 AM

Sorry yours has slowed too. Can you give me the part number for the oil filter stud you used to delete the oil cooler please?

Thanks.

mgrotel 04-27-2011 06:27 AM

why delete the oil cooler?

e30cabrio 04-27-2011 06:34 AM

Because I am adding a real one and the O ring on my 22K motor was seeping.

mgrotel 04-27-2011 06:41 AM

ah, gotcha, i was hoping you werent just removing it altogether

e30cabrio 04-27-2011 06:46 AM

Nope would not do that. I should have said IS seeping. Nissan tried to blame the miniscule seep for the oil consumption.

the_coupe 04-27-2011 02:45 PM

im deleting mine all together, but will eventually add an aftermarket oil cooler setup in the near future. i'll get the pn for ya tomorrow but i looked it up under an I30. im hopin my heads get finished up by the weekend tho. i took a similar pic of the water outlet on the block too. check my thread again lol

e30cabrio 04-27-2011 02:47 PM

I searched & searched and could not find the darn thing.

Thanks.

Updates?

e30cabrio 05-08-2011 10:08 AM

Sorry forgot about this thread.

The thrust washers I got had only block side, had to buy another set.

And a few new engine progress pictures.

This is the Thrust washer I was missing.

omsin523 05-08-2011 10:29 AM

Hows the build coming along with the machinst?
Seen in another thread you bought the Hr oil stud, guessing your removing the factory cooler/warmer?

the_coupe 05-08-2011 02:06 PM

Haha so u got jipped on the acl thrust washers too? Lol seems we have quite a similar build process goin on. Im STILL waiting on my heads to be finished with the port n polish unfortunately BUT they are almost done. Will be quite a crunchtime to get it done n tuned before zdayz in 2 weeks.

e30cabrio 05-08-2011 02:22 PM

Amazing huh?

I'm hoping for completion in under a month. Better slow but moving than nada.

:P

the_coupe 05-08-2011 06:55 PM

sure is. lol luckily the dude i bought mine from sent me another set (oe brand) that were packaged correctly....BUT i ordered oem ones while i waited. so i have a set for sale :)

im HOPING to have the motor together by the weekend IF my heads get finished in the next day or so. its crunch time!

e30cabrio 05-12-2011 02:21 PM
