I'm going to take tons of step by step pictures of the install for future nitrous users. I'm going to try and have most of it done by this week, but I'm still waiting on one more part, the fuel pressure adaptor from SPX. Thats why I put "ongoing" in the subject heading. Hopefully, by the time I'm finished with everything, we'll have an excellent DIY thread that even my grandma can follow. Thanks to all who have helped me and my nitrous questions, there'll be more to come, haha. Till then, I guess I'm back on the bottle

Haha, freakin A, I started this thread in like November thinking I was going to get it done all quick. Finals and Christmas kinda set me back. But I don't care what anyone says, installing a nitrous kit doesn't take 4 hours, maybe with a experienced crew of like 4, but my newbie azz took like 2 days. But then again, I was taking my time with it, I didn't want to mess anything up. I'd like to thank all the people on this forum who helped me out with all of my questions. I asked so many I must've sounded like the Riddler. Well, enough of the small talk, on to the install.

I started off by mounting the bottle. I wanted to put it somewhere hidden but I ended up just putting it in the corner just because it was easier. It wasn't too hard, just lined it up, drilled some holes. and voila.

from what i understand, you want to mount the bottle with the nozzle facing the front of the car so air doesn't get sucked into the tube when you run out under throttle since the pickup is at the bottom of the bottle. is this not accurate?

You replied by PM that the intake tube is at an angle which would make the sideways mount ok. However, the link you provided is for a ZEX bottle and clearly you are not using ZEX equipment, rather NX. Are they the same?

Next I ran the main, nitrous line. I was going to run it through the car, but everyone I asked advised against it. I ended running it outside, through a grommet in the wheel well, zip tied at several points under the vehicle so as not to scrape, rub, or be in contact with anthing too hot.

Here's the grommet I ran it through, I just cut an X in it and squeezed the line through. I was able to keep the spare tire.

Lines underneath, make sure you zip tie it away from any moving parts like that drive shaft. A little tip, if you zip tie it to anything metal, I had some extra fuel line hanging around, I just split it down the middle and put it around the n2o line that was touching metal and zip tied it on, just so I didn't have to worry about rattling or rubbing down the road.

This is by the driver side tire. There is a hole at the bottom of the brake fluid compartment. I just fished the nitrous line through there. The picture shows where the line comes up from the bottom.

Next, I mounted the solenoids. I'm sure there's more ways than one to mount the solenoids, but I didn't want to do any drilling so I just used bolts, and fasteners that were already there. I mounted the purge and the n2o solenoid in the brake compartment as you can see in the picture below. And I had to mount the fuel solenoid outside behind the plenum and by the firewall because the fuel line was too short. There is a rubber grommet that I took out, close to the brake fluid container, so I could route the delivery line to the outside. I plan on covering everything up, probably in wireloom, to look as stock as possible. As for the purge solenoid, the positioning was actually pretty good because I just pointed it towards the firwall, and made the brass line come out by the wipers, no drilling or cutting involved, just bending. :D Now for some pics, so you guys know what the hell I'm talking about, haha.

At this point, you can mount the nozzle. Drill a small hole, and slowly work your way bigger to the desired hole size. The intake is kind of rubbery so its a little difficult to drill. Make sure you follow the directions you get with the kit as to placement and such. Basically, its 2-6 inches away from the throttle body, just make sure the nozzle is aiming towards the throttle body. Then you can connect the hoses to the solenoids. You can see in the previous picture where I mounted mine.

*Note, in my case the fuel line isn't connected, yet. I'm still trying to get my SPX adaptor to work because it is leaking. If I don't get that to work, I'll just T the fuel line.

We're coming close to the end of my knowledge. Haha, see all the basic stuff I can do fine, like routing lines and stuff, but soon as we get to the electrical portion of the install, I get stupid real fast. So I enlisted the help of my friend who seems to know everything about everything, especially cars. The only other thing I did by myself was drilled and mounted the switches. I have a base model so I put the switches in the empty nav compartment. I also have a aftermarket radio so I don't know if that will change how much room you have in there to route wires and such. But here's where I mounted mine.

Hey bro, to the best of my knowledge, most bottles are the same, the knob on top might be a bit different but that would only affect the way your remote bottle opener might be mounted. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. And I'm actually using a little of NX and a little of ZEX. I'm using the ZEX bottle heater, gauge, and purge. And NX Wet Kit, and opener. Good questions though, keep em coming if you got em, I just pm'ed you because I was in the middle of posting install pics. In fact I've got a couple more.

Now for the electrical portion of this installation. Like I said, I'm sure there a tons of ways you could wire this system so I won't go too in depth. But if you have any specific questions feel free to ask, and I'll ask my friend who did the electrical work.

We took out the center console and armrest portion to route lines and just make things easier.

We tapped the cigarette lighter for power for the heater. Everything else was powered off of the battery. To keep it clean, we used a heavy gauge wire and connected everything to that which needed power. And we did the same for the ground connections.

If you want to tap the cigarette lighter it just pops off, no need to gtt he car.

The lines that were run to the bottle were run through the empty sub compartment.

Doesn't this just give you a headache.

And here's how we got through the firewall to the battery. We just cut an X through that grommet and fished the wires through.

first, I would like to thank you for helping us noobs that don't know anything about installing nitrous, with all these nice pictures...

now my questions:

1. how much was the complete kit?
2. how much hp are you planning to do with this kit?
3. what are those switches for? I see four different switches..

oh, are you going to change out the spark plugs for 1step colder?
