Indy Z Owners

I would like to find some Z folks from around central Indiana. I am interested in getting into or creating a group of Z owners locally. Does anyone have any ideas or interest????

I just bought my first Z, after wanting one for a long time. I have attached a few shots of it. I would really like to join a group or get one started.

Hey, I'm from Carmel, Indiana. You should check out Indy Z Car Club: http://www.indyzcarclub.com/forum/portal.php

Nice Z - it's identical to mine - but you should peel off those dealership stickers as soon as possible, if you haven't already.

krazy 09-09-2006 10:24 AM

Hey guys. I just bought my 03 Daytona Blue Z in July. I'd like to meet some of you. I'm at 86th and Allisonville (right around the indy/carmel boarder.

Already signed up yesterday at the Indy Z club site too. Never been to Noblesville Coffee and Tea. It would be nice to get some more meets together before winter comes. I used to be a co-founder of a car club about 5+ yrs ago when I had another car. So, I'm certainly up for planning meets too if needed.

I don't own Z either. I think they are quite open :)
just go to their site : www.indyzcarclub.com .... I don't see any recent activity though.

krazy 02-08-2007 06:12 PM

We're a very active club. The majority of members use more phone/email than internet. So that's the cause for some inactivity on the boards. Check out the newsletter on the website. It has the first 6 months of 2007 already mapped out with dates/events.

As far as I know it's a Z club. But G35's are welcome as they are the same platform. Any other cars would probably have trouble being an actual member, but are always welcome to come/enjoy our events.

i'm in terre haute. it was BONE stock when i got it. 03 6 speed premium.

so far i've just tinted the windows. i'm waiting to find out what i want to do with it. i'm trying to decide on turbo or sc. probably going to be working on that around may.

how do you like your flywheel? i'm thinking about ordering the JWT flywheel here next week. i can't decide between the spacer that adds solid hp or the faster rev of the lightened flywheel.

krazy 02-10-2007 04:54 PM

Nice ride man!

binder 02-11-2007 06:19 PM

thanks, i love this car. it's sweet. the only thing that would make it better would be a grandma mode. like a switch you push like VDC to make it get better gas mileage.

i can't wait to start tearing into it and doing a mild build on it. I probably won't get too crazy on it, just make it a nice daily driver. Probably gonna get a supra TT to mod like crazy.

krazy 02-12-2007 02:53 PM

Certainly can't go wrong with a Supra. Speed Demon! :icon38:

binder 02-12-2007 03:43 PM

ya, i figured i would use that for more of a power car and this for more of a nice car. the supra's are built better to handle the power, plus they are a little older so insurance would be cheaper on them. i just wanted something kind of newer as my daily driver.

The following weekend i might be up at the BMW dealership saturday morning getting all my nice stereo stuff installed. (best friend is a mechanic there so we use the nice warm shop to work in).

Mean looking car!! Love it. Our next meeting is March 8th at Tom Wood Nissan on 96th and Keystone. (Monthly board meeting). We'll be having about 1-2 meets a month starting in April that will include alot of driving.

I must recommend you attend ZDayZ in TN/NC on May 18th/20th. I as well as 4-5 more members will be heading down there. Should have around 300 cars there!!

Visit www.indyZcarclub.com for more updated information and events.

Ya, I'd say if you don't live fairly close, the monthly board meetings aren't the best. It's just an excuse for some of us to talk about things and grab some drinks and food afterwards.

If your far away, save your traveling for the meets in the summer. We all have our Z's in the garage for winter anyways. :(

Hey I think I was following your car for a bit a few weeks ago. I'm in Nora with a Silverstone Z.

Any of you know any good shops in Indy?

Hey, nice to meet you.
I honestly don't trust any mechanic around indy area. I am a DIY guy and i do all of my install. But im not too familar with ECU stuff =)

Oh, I have a nismo front lip for sale. I tried to sell this while ago but couldn't find a local buyer.
The reason for sale?
Here you go =)
I installed it before i take it to the paint shop.

Steve_03 02-28-2007 08:56 PM

I do most of my work myself too, but I had to take the Z to a shop for brakes because the rotors were seized on. It's the first time I've taken a car in for brakes ever. Anyways I got it back and I have this weird knocking (popping) noise when I go forward. It's coming from the front. It may have been there before and I just never noticed it cause it is hard to hear. I'm gonna re-torque everything up there this weekend cause they may have over torqued something, but if that's not it I may have to take it to some place to figure it out.

How much for the lip? I'm not really in the market and the lady would kill me, but if the price is right it might be worth it.

What kind of thing you want to do?
nvm- just see your post above me ^^

I know one shop that from what I heard, is a great shop .... but I dont think this shop do 'fast' job .... for brake job, might take few days to a week. So that might be an issue for you.

Steve_03 02-28-2007 09:09 PM

The brakes are done, just a matter of this front end noise I have. I think I'm just noticing it now since I was listening for things wrong after the brake install.

xxgreatwarsxx 02-28-2007 09:15 PM

just did and edited :icon17:
I would only consider my shop if you have any other mean of transportation.

xxgreatwarsxx 02-28-2007 09:17 PM

ic.... if you want to check the shop that I go to, here is their contact info:

Mueller's Automotive And Performance
646 Virginia Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203
(317) 636-2358

The owner name is Kurt, just tell him Felix with black G send you :)

Steve_03 02-28-2007 09:19 PM

Alright I'll look into it thanks.

xxgreatwarsxx 02-28-2007 09:20 PM

There are few Z and G that do their brake job at that place also ... so he might have some knowledge about it (my assumption).

Disclaimer: I have no experience with other shop in Indy so can't really say if they would do a better job than other shops in Indy. But that's what I've been told by people who come to his place.

Its nismo style front bumper from VIS (i think).
Im selling it for $160 pick up. You can always stop by and check out in person.

Do you hear that knocking whenever you go over the bumps?
I also have knocking noise but i know it's comming from my sway bar end links.

Steve_03 03-04-2007 06:47 PM

No, the knocking is when rolling. I also no longer believe it was associated with the brake job I had done. With normal driving habits I would have never heard it.

Very nice. It's funny cause I work around 96th and Meridian and there is another DB 350Z in the parking lot next to mine. I always wave or at least acknowledge another Z owner...so if I see ya, you'll know. :D

I work at 96th and College. SS 350z and one of my coworkers has a CS 350z

Sound stupid but was the sound like flap flap flap? if it's it might be the plastic cover under ur engine.... thats just my guess

BrianRodd8 03-08-2007 11:09 PM

Hey guys! I'm new here as far as posting goes. Bought my Z August 06'. I live on the west side of Indy---Plainfield to be exact. I'm a bartender at Buffalo Wild Wings there---ever had a beer or 2...or 3? Well anyways, my car is about ready to be driven again, been working on it for the past couple months, can't wait to see what it's got!! Just thought I'd see what's in the area..my names Brian!!!

No, I think it may be a lubrication issue on something. It definitely sounds like a knuckle cracking noise when I roll just not as sharp.

relubricate your sway bar bushing to see if it will make it go away. that's the only thing i can think of knocking noise from the front side.
good luck! =)

BrianRodd8 03-09-2007 08:47 AM

I'm down for anything....Bdubs is always a great spot to finish at!!! Any of you guys running Turbos on your Z's????
