That guy does alot of kits, doesn't he? I see him alot with GB's.
Very sexy, man. But just not as sexy as Martina. So get on the ball, young men, and do your duty.

Motormouth 09-12-2006 07:23 AM

and since we were talking about bodykit materials on Sunday, some info I got from a bodykit guru. (this was NOT from my group buy, but for EvoR's V2 replica kit where they were offering frp and Hfrp versions)

Material Notes:

The one we suspect people want to know is "what is the difference between FRP and HFRP. There are pluses and minusses each one. Here we will lay out the differences in their most basic formats to hopefully educate you as to which would best suit your particular needs.

FRP: the FRP is hand laid and quite thick. This bumper is very rigid and does a good job of resisting the day to day debris you encounter on the road. Prep work (pre painting) that will be needed is general sanding and filling, as is common on any FRP piece from any manufacturer. The quality of this mold is top notch. On the sample we installed on our car, the gelcoat was awesome, and will require minimal sanding. Having held the genuine NISMO piece in my hands, I can tell you the quality is very much on par. The advantage FRP has is the fact that it is very strong and holds its shape incredibly well over time. It also is quite easy to repair should any damage occur in your travels. Paint sticks extremely well to it in both the short and long term, provided it is properly prepped (pick your bodyshop carefully!)

HFRP (Hybrid FRP) - this material is FRP with urethane blended into the mix for added flexibility. This allows for a piece to be constructed that is both strong and flexible. It's primary advantage is that unlike straight FRP, it is bendable. It's primary disadvantages over FRP are that it requires more prep time by your body shop, as the urethane mixture tend to cause more irregularities in the final product. In addition, HFRP requires specific procedures and chemicals to be used during the prep process by the body shop. Because the material is flexible, it also tends to expand and contract with temperature and humidity changes more than even FRP does. As such, special care has to be taken during the prep and finishing to ensure the paint can expand and contract with it.

I will I will. and yes, currently he is doing the V2 bumper, V1 JDM sides and rear, V2 rear wing (sourcing at the moment), Doluck raised bonnet, Top Secret or Damd rear diffuser (feeler at the moment) as well as other makes and models, I know he is active in the BMW scene and the RX7 scene as well.

EVERYBODY:

does anyone ahve a set of stock rims/tires I can borrow for probably 5 days? I can pay.

I need to send my rims out to get fixed (curb and finish damage) and was plannign on doing it while my car is getting fitted with the bodykit, so the car will be sitting still 99% of the time.

anyone who is interested let me know a price!!!!

Vader007 09-12-2006 05:08 PM

You can borrow mine. but you need to pick them up.

Jerry:D

Motormouth 09-12-2006 06:04 PM

dammit!!! nevermind if I have to pick them up!! (completely joking!!!!)

Jerry: you are a lifesaver. I'll let you know when the kit comes in and all that stuff. I'm borrowing my moms pickup for the interim, so i can get them no problem.... you need to borrow a pickup? :D

well, this is good news. I'm happy again.

Vader007 09-12-2006 08:02 PM

I need them back by the end of October!

Motormouth 09-13-2006 04:50 AM

: ) should only be for 5 days, hopefully for less...

What's up guys? I'm in North Carolina at the Four Seasons Hotel. Got in a while ago. 7 hours of 90 MPH in the rain sucks. But the sun came out in NC so I dropped my top for 10 minutes until I got to the hotel. From here we head to Atlanta in the mourning. So far, so good. I was impressed with the way the car held the road at such high speeds in the rain. Felt solid the entire way.
So any way, I'm hungry and need to eat.

Motormouth 09-14-2006 04:42 PM

wait for some new tires then do 130 in the rain like cool gy like me : ) j/k

so, jerry: im going to powdercoat the rims a semi gloss black and do the lettering around the outside rim in silver (just the raised lettering)

You're in the Four Seasons! I'm at the Embassy Suites in Cincinnati! We could've met for dinner. :icon17: My flight got canceled this evening because of that stupid rain. So I'm actually flying to BWI tomorrow, and the AAM guys are meeting me with my car so I can drive it home. Saves them the cost of transporting it and I get my car back sooner.

That'll be sweet. You taking it to Wheel Collision Center in Bath? Let me know how that turns out, I want to take my stock 19's there at some point to get them powdercoated in either black gloss or black chrome. Chewed one up last year and I haven't fixed it yet, so I figure I might as well get it fixed and done up nicely. Just because they're winter rims, doesn't mean they can't look good! :icon39:

BTW, anybody in the market for new summer tires? I have a set of GS-D3's sitting in my garage I'm about to relist. 255/35/19 and 275/35/19. I blew one out with only 800 miles on it, stupid road hazard. Replaced it under warranty but I had PS2's put on, so they're sitting in my garage right now. If anybody wants them for cheap, I can bring them to the garage some time.

Damn, i might be, but i'd need something wider than my stock rims. I was looking at a set of TSWs, but i'd need to pick up your tires, and then somehow get a set of tires and a set of rims to a tire place ... hard enough typically, almost impossible in a Z roadster ;)

Vader007 09-14-2006 06:14 PM

Alright Rick, I voted for her, now I'm gonna get more junk emails.
Wont be making the 24th meet, have to reinventory my store.

Jerry
