So I've done a lot of soul searching....

...and I have come to a decision. I would like to get an RB26 swap done in the next year and a half. I am aware of the costs, but I wanted to get you guys' opinions on a reputable shop that might be able to help me make this happen. Anywhere in CA would work, I think. Possibly even AZ or NV if necessary.

Any input you guys have would be awesome.

Thanks!
reis

"Gillis Motorsports" in Morgan Hill. Hands down the best shop I've found for big projects like this. Awsome guys and definatly reasonably priced. They did a Mazda6 tranny swap for a guy in my former Mazda6club. He went from a stock automatic to a full blown manual race tranny. It was I believe the tranny Gillis runs in there "Speed World Challenge" Ford Focus. It was a complet custom job... Axles, brackets, mounts, pedals, etc. The owners name is Andrew Gillis, tell him Robert with the 350z sent you. Go to "gillismotorsports.com" and give them a call.

RB26 on a "z" interesting...

Velocity350Z Apr 27, 2008 09:35 PM

How much will this cost you? And why RB26 instead of Twin Turbos?

reis Apr 28, 2008 11:22 AM

From what I have seen, the cost will probably run anywhere from 15-20k?
The engine itself can be had from anywhere between 3500-4500 (Including rb25 tranny). From there it's a matter of getting a custom driveshaft and making modifications to the engine itself (oil pan, possibly manifolds if going from TT->T, various other things).

Then, I need someone to do a clean install :( I may give the guys over at ZCG a call, since I know they have that RB 240z, so maybe they can give me some advice.

The decision to go swap over TT is that it's just a unique alternative, and it was either drop an rb26 into the Z or drop it into an s13. I like the Z better :icon38:

I think talking to Rob is a great start. Plus, I think he'll talk some sense into you. ;) Seriously - what are your goals? Uniqueness? Track? Show? You clearly have deep pockets and a lot of time to wait while your car is customized.
