on a serious note, i dont believe i've ever heard a car with dual BOV's, but i imagine the sound is somewhat stereophonic and probably sounds pretty cool |
Someone request a picture of the setup:
http://www.boosted350z.com/Images/DualHKS.jpg They are super loud it's insane at times im not even boosting but still in vac they still go off, you hear it all due to the fact of how exposed they are. |
damn chris, those dual SSQV's look so awesome with that INGS Nspec front end.
n00b question here, however. wouldnt you want the BOV's after the intercooler and before the throttle body, or does it really make no difference? i'm very curious about this. |
Every dual BOV set-up Ive ever heard has been quieter than a single BOV on the same car. Id like to hear some clips....

n00b question here, however. wouldnt you want the BOV's after the intercooler and before the throttle body, or does it really make no difference? i'm very curious about this. The purpose of the BoV is to prevent the throttle plate from closing and causing air to surge back through the compressor blades on the turbo. Having it closer to the compressor outlet allows it to vent air from the intercooler core and retain air in the piping between the intercooler and throttle plate. This means that the compressor has less piping to fill when the car is back in boost, meaning slightly better boost response between shifts. That's the theory, at least...... |
thats a very interesting explanation craig, thanks for clearing that up with me.
the way i had pictured it in my mind, it seemed most logical ( to me at least) for the BOV to be closer to the throttle butterfly. this way, when the butterfly closes, the charged air has a quick path of escape through the BOV, since it would be so close. however, after thinking about it for a minute or so, your explanation makes more sense |
the biggest pressure buildup will be between the turbo(s) and the intercooler. my vote (and choice) is weld them right on the end tanks....if you have the option. :icon38:

Best for your turbo= before intercooler(Less compressor surge)
Best for throttle response=after intercooler(More compressed air in system) |

I would definitely rather have a turbo that lasts 20k miles more than slightly better throttle response. That's why NLTS was invented!

Once the throttle plate is closed pressure doesen't necessairly reverse direction, however it could stay dormant. |
Will you guys STFU?
JK. :p Like Andrew said, the best option would be before the turbos and intercooler. |
BOV's before the turbo's?

lol, i was pretty sure i knew what you meant, i was just being an ass
|
i actually run two BOVs before the turbo on the intake pipes, two on the intercooler on the very top of it, two on the intake manifold, two on the boost solenoid, two on the muffler and two on the rear two injectors...
i get the best throttle response, best injector firing, best intercooler safety ( big in my book ) best turbo intake safety and of course, i can spool up at full boost by 1250 rpms.... |
too bad we're not all ballers who can afford to run 12 bov's like you jeremy. only one for me.
1 BOV=Scrub Status 2=low-level pimpin status 12=Baller status |

i actually have 6 of them that i put in the back of my car for better traction.
more weight in back = better traction |

it would have to be pretty damn big to be more baller than 12 regular bov's.
and since jeremy is about to have 18, now that he is gonna have the other 6 in the back, frankly i dont think it can be done. edit: this might get ugly... |
way too many blue cars in this thread...
