does anyone know if all the 350z year models could open the compartment above the radio where it flips up and it retracts into the dash because i have an 2005 350z and mine only flips up.

 

2003 is the only one that retracts. 2004+ all just lift up. I believe some of the 2004-2005 with nav also retract (electronic). 2006+ with nav doesn't have a nav cover.

 

oh ok the only reason i asked was that nitrouz's 350z in the jtuned feature says 2005 and in the interior pic the nav cover is retracted.

 

Yup. Like I said, if you have factory nav on an 04 or 05, you have power retractable nav cover. But you can retrofit an 03 manually retractable cubby into an 04 or 05 and it will fit, but the 03 was dark grey in color, while 04+ are black.

Here's a summary:

2003:
Non-Nav: manual and retracts into dash
Nav: manual and retracts into dash

2004-2005:
Non-Nav: manual and flips up
Nav: powered and retracts into dash

2006-2007 (new dash style):
Non-Nav: manual and flips up
Nav: No nav cover at all*

*I believe some early 2006 models had powered and retractable covers like the 04 and 05 Nav models, but they discontinued them for some reason

 

I just noticed this too on my 05 the other day ...

 

I'm jealous of that bloody cover.
