Just got back from there, drove around all the parking lots and didn't spot any G's or Z's. Thought I might get lucky and the rain would stop, but guess everyone was gone by 9:30pm or I really need a new prescription for glasses... jeez and I drive with these .

Until next time I guess.

Sport pack G has the same suspension as a 350Z, as for better acceleration, I've yet to run into a non-boosted 350Z that can pull away from me at all. I've either been dead even or beat every single one I've run into, including ones with boltons. If you also check 1/4 mile times for both cars in stock form (based on people's slips that they posted on my350z and g35driver), they are identical.
Either way, this is silly. We each bought our cars because we thought it was better than the other. That's all there is to it.

^^ very true. if your basis of comparison for the z is hock, than you'd be better off racing a stationary rock

Hahaha, that rhymed
I've raced randomzzzz, no one I know. There is one that might be on here, but I doubt he's a regular. Black Z, had the Nismo stripes on it, wheels and exhaust. He was cruising with an S2000 with Teknotik vinyl on it. At the time I was bone stock, and had a passenger, he was empty. We went from a dig to maybe 150-ish, nose to nose. Then we backed off because of an upcoming red light.

You sure they were racing against you?

But seriously, the G weighs much more than the Z.. So I would assume that with equal drivers, the z would make it down the 1320 first..

Okay, found official weights and stats.
2005 Anny Ed 350Z = 3225 -> 10.75 lb/hp
2005 6MT G35C = 3512 -> 11.7 lb/hp

Couldn't find an official number for the 05 G, so here's a comparison of 03's

2003 Nissan 350z 5.4 14.1
2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe 5.5 14.2

Just to put things more in perspective, here's some more data:

2006 Honda S2000 5.5 14.0 (C&D May '06)
2006 S2000 - 2855lbs - 12.04 lbs/hp

So why did I bring the S2000 into this? Because it has a worse lb/hp than the G, godawful lb/lb-ft-tq, yet runs a better 1/4 mile than the 350Z. So power to weight only gives you part of the equation. Aerodynamics and off the line traction makes up a large portion as well. The G35C has a CofD of 0.27 to the 350Z's 0.29. The slightly longer moment arm gained from having a longer wheelbase would cause more weight transfer to the rears under launch, and in theory should give an ever so slightly better launch.
My point? A contest of speed between a 350Z and a G35C is damn near 100% driver skill.
