New Vortech-related problem (maybe?)
OK, this happen to anyone?....
I washed my car at do-it-yourself car wash (like I have about 20 times before - 5x since s/c install) the day before I was leaving on vacation. I drive about 1/4 mile and the card bogged down and died. It would not stay running and spit all kinds of smoke when I tried too start it several times in the next 2 hours (smelled of gas).
I checked all vac hoses, connections, etc. and found nothing. Finally got it to turn over & run, but then it would only go up to 2200 RPM before bogging down again. It ran smooth from 500-2000 rpm though.
I finally made it home & then disconnected battery for 14 hours. Started right up after, but still died at 2200rpm. WTF? Had to tow it to installer (an hour away).
After I returned from vacation a week later the installer advises they scanned engine error codes and found a MAF error code and then reset it. They found no other issues and car seems to be fine now. They found no exposed wires or vac leaks, etc. Which bothers me because it could happen again.
I don't suppose anyone else has experienced this, have they? The only thing I saw was that the SS box is mounted next to the battery, which is directly below the hood weatherstripping and it looks like water could have gotten on the SS box or something.

Sounds like you went into a limp mode . Water on the ss box , in the intake , you think it would have something to do with that. You need to find out what the exact code was .There maybe a reset that you can do....from the drivers seat . [ turn key on and off 3 times ] [gas pedal reset ] some thing like that ...for that exact error code . Ive seen a post on some resets and I know there are a bunch of them .Do a search and see what you come up with....good luck
If the SS box is mounted on the battery as Vortech suggests, I am 99.999% certain that no water could get to it, even if the hood was open. I agree with booger, What was the exact code?
Edit: I just noticed that you have a G so I am not certain about the water ...

to clerify.........turning the key onto the accesory position with 5 seconds resets the THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR (TPS), and yes a MAF problem will fu*k up the TPS, trust me it happened to me., all is good in VORTECHVILLE these days.......
To reset the ECU, you have to do the whole turn key, push pedal for 10 times in 10 secons, wait 7 seconds, press pedal till engine light flashes........something like that. You have to get into diagnostic mode, then reset the codes by pressing and holding the pedal.
Just do a search or look it up in the service manual. I've had to do this twice after installing my plenum, twice. If I hadn't cleared the codes myself, I would have ended up with a towing bill.

Thanks guys. I thought unplugging battery for 12 hours also reset ECU? I will try other method "next time".
I am going to pick up the car tonight. I will try to find out what the exact code was. Installer says car is running perfect now. While they had it they also swapped out my POS narrowband A/F gauge for AEM wideband, so they siliconed all of the SS box solder connections while they were at it. We'll see...
