We have a slight problem. The manufacture just called me and told me that they wont be able to do the front bumper in abs plastic. The reason he said was the bumper is too big and deep. The bottom and top of the bumper goes in too deep to do it plastic. I ask them is there anyway to do it? He's gonna try and do it one more time. But if they cant do it we will have to switch it over to FRP. Just wanna update everyone on the situation.
im just speculating on the reason why they cant do it in ABS. for all i know thier ABS machine is just too small. but, ill wait for punkster to respond
The thing is the do luck front bumper is REALLY big. They said the bumper stretches too inward therefore wouldnt be able to do it in the machine. the bottom of the bumper along the top part goes inward too much. I'll tell them to switch to frp so it wont hold up the project.
I hate to jump ship but, I only wanted the bumper because I thought it was ABS. Now that its not I am afraid I dont want it. The only reason is I want my whole kit to be ABS. Can you please refund my money back.
Sorry about that but I only wanted this bumper because it was ABS. Thats why I didn't order anything else because they were all FRP. Can I please get a refund on the $200 I initially gave.

Even the original ones are in FRP and they work just fine.
How much harder is it for a bodyshop to paint ABS vs fiberglass?
I've had abs all around on my 91 and 94 300zx's. Still look like new. I don't know how hard or diff in cost, but plastic is the only way to go for me. My 350 will have the stillen kit all the way around includ the spoiler. When FB gets nicked, you see the white chips (ALA my 94 300zx stillen spoiler). And plastic holds up to normal wear and tear (hitting curbs and such). Every fb kit I see on the raod is either stress marked or has shattered from being hit. ABS won't shatter and the paint flexes with the plastic. Just my experience.
I'd personally like to see the front bumper made from FRP for the sake of body work and paint prep. FRP is easier to repair if damaged. IMHO.
Cheaper too.
yeah, but abs does not get damaged like frp and the paint flexes with the plastic unlike frp. I've always found fb to cost more to prep and paint (especially the cheepie kits)

Unfortunately for the Z, the bumper is probably twice the size of your previous car so the manufacture was unable to mold it. Our fb kits comes preprep unlike other company.
Once again, my apology. I answer the update to someone thru PM and i thought its the thread.
The front bumper was ship to the frp manufacture yesterday since we cant do the bumper in abs so i had to sent it to the other manufacture. As for the sides and rear they are in the process of molding at this moment. i will contact them tomorrow to see where exactly on the molding.
As for the wide fenders and rear panel it will cost about 650 for 4pcs. I will need at least 10 ppl. Deposit is 200. Here is the link to the GB
ok so if you had to give us a month that the body kit would be ready what month would that be?
Just spoke with the manufacture yesterday. They said they can have the mold and sample done by the end of this month. And that includes the front as well. However, depending on if we want to check the fitment before production it could save us a month. If let say we do want to check fitment first before production, the sample will be here in late january or early febuary that is when i have a container coming in and i can have the sample come in with it. Production takes about 3weeks to do and ocean freight another 3weeks. If we skip the fitment check and just go straight to production then we save at least 1month bc we dont have to wait for the sample to get in. Let me knwo what you gusy think/
