6 second 0-60 time??? Anyone else?

I was doing some 0-60 timing to see what my car can do. I have about 11K miles, and a HKS exhaust. I found my self time and time again getting anywhere from 5.9-6.2 seconds. I know the "claimed" time for 0-60 for our car is 5.2 seconds but I have a close to empty tank of gas and tried launching from every RPM but can't get near 5.2 seconds. Anyone else tried or can you try so I dont think Im crazy.

Motormouth 11-06-2007 01:38 PM

5.2??

Dont trust a gtech if that is what you are using. Those metering devices are about worthless

evil_tt 11-06-2007 01:55 PM

No, just a stop watch

johnnyblaze007 11-06-2007 02:03 PM

If you are using a stop watch by yourself by the time you realize you hit 60mph and hit your stop watch your probably adding a couple tenths of a second and also if you have a passenger thats added weight which could also add a little time to your clock.

0-82.87 MPH in 8.610 seconds. Thats a fact. Get real and go to the dragstrip.

Assuming acceleration is linear, your time to 60mph would have been 6.23 sec (of course the strip difficult to launch at on street tires).

Good one..that's what i learned in my first job =)

Anyhow, how the freak would anyone think that acceleration can be constant in the real world !? .....

Everyone knows that counting Mississippi's is the most accurate method...

WalkerT 11-07-2007 04:51 AM

There are alot of converters on the web you just input your time slip from the drag race and then it will tell you your 0-60 time.

Go to the drag strip that is as real world as you can get.

So you're saying he gained 20MPH in two seconds? :icon8:

The door to exit MY350Z is to the left, newb.

huh? last time I checked the Z has a 6 speed transmission - it's not a big wheels ride on toy with one gear ratio total, so obviously acceleration is not linear in every gear ;)

BADASSTT 11-07-2007 09:06 AM

Maybe his car is auto or if it's stick he is not powershifting..

WalkerT 11-07-2007 10:18 AM

Yea pretty cool. My 05 was 4.8 0-60. Need to get my 07 to the track.
