Anyone run Nismo LMGT4's 9.5" all around?
Just wondering if anyone has tried to run the rear 18x9.5" Nismo wheels all around. Any fitment issues in the front? I really like the way the rears look but not the 8.5" fronts.

Did that set up work? I mean do those measurements not mess up the TCS/VDC?

It is the same tire diameters as 245/40/18 / 275/40/18 the recomended sizes... only you have wider in the front... It adds about $60 to the price of our wheel and tire packages listed on our web site... |

I am currently running the 18x9.5 nismo setup on my 350z, with no issues whatsoever. I am runing Kumho MX tires, sized 275-35-18 front and 275-40-18 rear.
At first i thought there might be rubbing isseues, but after a few weeks, so far nothing. I canyon drive my car hard, and even with hitting the turns hard, no rubbing. It's an excellent setup, I highly recomend it to anyone who wants to get better traction through the twisties. It also makes the car much more predictable. Also, the front wheels now match the rear as far as how the spokes and lip look, it really looks nice. Much better than the 18x8.5 up front IMO. Also, no issues with TCS etc.. The tires sizes i am running are perfect for VDC and TCS to work fine. So far so good :) |
Could you up the wall size and get a little more pouched-out look, or no? By that I mean, can the tire look a little more aggressive, a la the SCC Project Z (http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr.../0404scc_350z/)? I imagine with yet larger wheels and so close clearance this could be a rubbing issue, but if you can't fit any more width than 275 up front, why isn't there a 9" wide LM-GT4 so you don't add any unnecessary mass to the front wheels?

The front tires are "beefy" enough IMO. You'r rub going with something larger probably. you could probably get away with a 275-40-18 up front. Nismo doesn't have any other sizes or offsets available in the USA. All other sizes or widths are from Japan, and special ordered, and much more expensive. The extra mass, doesn't justify me spending hundreds more and waiting months upon months IMO.

See.. that Sport Compact Car had it wrong... They shoul dhave done the 275/35/18 up front... They would have had all of the benifits of the wider rubber... But with the taller tire, you work the power steering pump more so eventually that will go out under hard driving with the 275/40/18... Steering response will be quicker with less rotational mass on the front hubs with the 275/35/18 and you are not running too close you will rub and you will have less sidewall flex on the front with 275/35/18 |

just thought the wider wheel might hit something if the angle was increased too much. Not that I'm going to try my hand at drifting, but you all are so nice with your generous expertise, I figured why not ask. Besides, you've got some damn good package deals and this thread has almost changed my long-set mind from BBS to LM-GT4s.

that's about a 6mm difference with that kit correct? in full lock either way, i think the only thing the wider tire may hit would be the inner splash guard, on the inside front of the tire... I don't think it would really hit anything on the back-inside portion. If it does barely rub the fender liner, you can downgrade a little in tires size to maybe a 265-35-18, but then you're height ratio between the front and rear tires will be different....

Is that your daily driver? Do you have any driveability issues running such a wide wheel on the front? hydroplaining in the rain or tramlining? |
What's tramlining? And I bet hydroplaning is a BIG problem w/o good wet tires.
