hey guys I'm going to buy some black wheels for my red z. I think that'll look bad A**. Anyway I was looking at some on ebay that will be like 700-800 shipped for 18X8.5&9.5 and 19X8.5&9.5. Anyway just wondering if these are really cheap because they suck or something. Should i get these wheels for my z? what will be the disadvantages if any of them rather than a more expensive set?

For that price why not, they must be cheap though. I think the RPM's will look hot on yours.

38 offset is kinda high, they might look tucked

 

what do you mean by tucked? and t mounk what size are yours?

 

those offsets are horrible! You need at least a 20mm to make it worth the $$.

BTW - Tucked is what your car almost looks like now. The higher the offset the more inside the wheels sit. The higher the offset the further out they go.

20mm looks great because they sit right at the edge of the fender. Good luck!

 

offsets are very important, the 38 offset is how far your wheel will sit out from the hub. You know the mexicano lowriders with the wheels way out the wheel well, thats a super low offset. Would look like crap on a z obviously. And you dont want your wheels tucked inside the fender too much either (high offset ex. 38)cause that will look like crap. I would say with those widths stay between a 22 and 30 offset.

And as far as those wheels go, I say save your money and get quality wheels cause you now have a quality car.

 

I think the 18's would look too small.

The one's posted in the pic above I think are at least 19"

 

18's are not too small, atleast 50% im guessing are running 18's, as well as me, and I never heard anyone say there too small. Also an added bonus to 18's is the price of tires. Youll be spending alot more on tires if you have 19's. If you only drive in the summer it doesnt really matter, but if your going to put alot of miles on her that extra cost in 19" tires is something to consider.

 

Just my opinion. I've seen Z's with non-factory 18's and think they look smaller than stock. Others may not think the same way and that's cool

 

It really depends on the wheel and tire you put on. I agree that there are wheels that I wouldnt get in 18. But then again I just wouldnt get that wheel. Thats why im saying save up and get a quality wheel.

does the offset refer to how far out the wheel sits or does it refer to the actual wheel AND tire

 

obviously the tire is mounted on the rim so basically both. maybe i dont understand what your asking. Do some research on offsets, youll figure it out, there are tons of diagrams on the net.

 

You may want to look into AXIS wheels. Those rims look similar, however, AXIS is a more trusted brand. Many members on this site have them if you want to verify. Just my 2 cents. By the way, here are mine, but you won't pay $800 for these, but they do give you an idea of another way to go if you want to spend the money.

I have a +33 offset and they look great.....it all depends on the wheel. I think a +20 offset is too little and will rub the fenders if the tires are too big.

Mine are 19x8.5 +20mm 245/35/19 (f) & 19x9.5 +20mm & 275/35/19 (r) and they look perfect! No rubbing issues at all
