Have 17" wheels, upgrading to 18's, a few q's....

I just purchased my Daytona Blue Base model. I eventually want to upgrade to 18" wheels. What tire profile should I get. My 17's use 50 series, but what about 18's? Also, I noticed the wheels width is different on the 17's, front is 7.5, rear is 8. What should I get when upgrading to 18's? Thanks!

someone correct me if i am wrong, but the stock 18's are 45 series. the front is 18 x 8 and the rear is 18 x 8.5

there was a misprint on acouple on nissan websites

the 18 tourings/performance are 18x8 all the way around

they are on 225/45 front and 245/45 in the rear

the track rays are 18.5 in the rear

The profile you go with should be dependent on the tire width you go with which should be dependent on the wheel width you go with. Choose your wheel width according to what you want. Something big, fat, and tucked tightly in the wheel well, or something more like the stock 8 inchers? Everybody goes wider. At least a 9.5 in the back and 8.5 in front. Minimum. Check the gallery link at the top of the page to get some ideas.

Try getting offset 20mm-35mm. I think the 18s on the Z have 29mm or 30mm offset.

I went with 18x8.5 Front/18x9.5 Rear.
Tires were 245/40/18 and 275/40/18.

If I go 18, I'll probably stick with 18X8 front and back, but go with a wider tire for the rear.

you cant go much wider than a 245 on a 8" wide rim. 255 maybe, but thats pushing it IMO.

the 40 or 45 or 50 number is a percentage of the width that is the sidewall height, that means a 245/45 is less sidewall than a 275/45. as a matter of fact a 275/40 is the same as a 245/45. do the math and you'll see it.

so first find the general width you want. might wanna consider something wider IMO, just so you feel like you got something. but thats your call.

then with that width you can come back here and we'll tell you what widths to put on, and then you just look for the sidewall ratio that keeps you as close to stock as possible.

I'm gonna stick with 8" front and back.

You should then go with: front 225/45-18, rear 245/45-18
