Can volk's anodized lip decolor?
I just washed my wheel and it seems that only one wheel still have the anodized look of purple hue whle other three wheels dont show any purple hue.
what can i do to bring them back? |
What did you use to wash them? Any other chemicals besides soap?
|
no, just regular soap and water.
i did use meg's wax |
Make sure it's compatible with your wheels. My friend used Mothers wheel polish on his anodized Volks and messed them up.
|
do you think its the reasoning of the Meg's Wax? i hope i can get the anodized finish back, i don't see any coats peeling
|
I'm not sure, but I don't see what else it could be if you only used soap besides that meg's wax.
|
that pic is gettin a little old...no pun intended

this is picture of front, still can see the purple hue around the reflective shadow
http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/a.../frontanad.jpg this is picture of rear, cannot see the purpleish hue. http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/a...37/rearana.jpg its lot more visible with eye then camera |
I have used Mother's aluminum polish before but that never killed the color of the coat.
just wondering why did it decolored all of sudden |
You shouldn't use metal polish on Volks. The lip isn't just polished, it has a clear coat over it. Maybe a dog took a piss on your wheel or something?

if the polish caused the decoloring, why did it happen on only 3 wheels and not all? |
So you polished the polish out of the anodozied for polished?

I would suggest you take them to a reputable wheel repairer to get a second opinion but it looks like the anodized finish has definitely been stripped.

Maybe retry washing one of the wheels with soap and water and see how that turns out. |
I can barely see a purple hue.
