Lightweight Wheel Alternatives to RPF1s??

Are there any alternatives to RPF1s that can offer the same functionality (weight and structural integrity) while staying in that relative price range? Honesty, I just don't like them all that much and everyone has them. I want to spend about $12-1500, new or used, and do not want to go over 19.0 pounds.

The problem I'm finding is weight. My first alternative is the Enkei PF01 but for the size I want (18x9.5 square), the difference is about 2.5 pounds per wheel between that and the RPF1!! :suicide:

Everything else just seems to be too heavy...weds, works, and other enkeis. I'm really not a fan of the TSW wheels that are made in 18x9.5.

Is there anything out there that I'm missing?

Thanks for the help.

Enkei NT03

I appreciate it man. If it comes down to the Enkei line, I'll just go through with the RPF1s. I'm just looking for something a bit apart from the norm.

I really like the style of few, thin spokes with a lot of space in the wheel, like the PF01's...the less going on in the wheel, the better. But I'm more concerned about weight and strength.

Thanks though.

Gram Lights, similar specs, similar price.

thespottedcow 08-18-2012 01:41 AM

5zigen or the mb battles/weapons maybe? i dont remember exactly what sizes they offer but they are relatively inexpensive and light weight

SE5spd 08-18-2012 02:03 AM

TC105-N 18x10.5 +12?

SE5spd 08-18-2012 02:04 AM

There's also FN01RC 17x10? Can't remember the offsets.

bluelineshooter 08-18-2012 04:40 AM

The stock 19 inch RAYS that come on the G35?! You can find those cheap and they're 18-19 pounds...

INTIMAZY 08-18-2012 08:41 AM

MB wheels are always popular.

TSW forged are an AMAZING bargain and still pretty uncommon in the racing world for now.

If you don't mind used, Advan and CCW are fantastic track worthy wheels.

Clam 08-18-2012 08:47 AM

Enkei RP03.

Thanks bro. Chris and I have already been talking.

Chris, man I was really close to pulling the trigger on yours, but the more thinking I did, I need to get the wheels down to at least 10" wide, but preferably 9/9.5. Sorry man. Duncan is a very good guy to deal with though. Has he offered anything yet?

Thanks man. I completely forgot about the battles, but I just looked them up and the 18x9.5s are 21.6 lbs. I'm really trying to keep this around 18.5-19 pounds.

Yeah, I was looking at weds, but these weigh in over at 20 too. Sucks trying to have my cake and eat it too. :suicide:

I appreciate it, but I have to stay in the 18s. These are for the track.

Yeah, TSW are the other options right now. Its between those and Enkeis. I have a staggered Advan set up right now, but I want to move to a square set up and don't want so much money tied up in wheels as my car is now pretty much a dedicated track car. Thanks though.

I really appreciate all the help guys. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Thanks a lot.

SE5spd 08-18-2012 04:47 PM

you can use 17" wheel for track. 17x10 FN01RC + 275/40/17 hoosier R6. But I understand, 18 > 17 when it comes to tire selection/tire size. :)

My bad man. I forgot to mention I have Stoptechs. I'd never get a 17 around those things. And I'm never getting rid of them...I'm so used to them now. I'll just take the points hit. :bowrofl:

lgear080 08-18-2012 06:26 PM

Ssr type f in 18x9.5 is your jam.

Peep zilv for a great deal.

Chris' wheels are the best deal you're gonna get on
Local rpf's, and they're basically flawless.

From what i have found the tc105n in 18x10.5 weighs in at 8.35 kg which is 18.4 lbs, correct me if im wrong. just more expensive than rpf1's.
also the new gram lights 57rd is a nice looking wheel for a couple hundred more than a set of rpf1's, not sure on quality though.

If I could find a square set up in my price range, I think I would definitely pick some up! Those are right in my weight range.

I re-looked at the weight and you're right. Not sure what site I got my number from the first time. I'll keep my eye out for these too. Thanks man.

so is the Work Emotion CR Ultimate

vex008 08-20-2012 06:40 AM

Ravspec had a set of 18" Work XD9 and a set of 18" Work Emotion CR Ultimate on clearance for a really good deal.
Think it was about $1800 for either set which is a little over your $1500 but worth it IMO.
Not sure if they are still available but they might have other specials going on.

jblz 08-20-2012 10:59 AM

^^^ thanks man. I've worked with Ravspec before. I'll hit them up and see what they've got.

I appreciate all the help here. Clearly there were some wheels I missed.

Looks like I might do the f14s. Good call on the forgestars!!

18x9.5 square, ~19 pounds per wheel, same casting process, and I found them for 1345 shipped (only $57 more than the RPF1 quote).

jblz 08-21-2012 09:55 AM

^^^ Just ordered them in Satin Black. Thanks for all the help here

Not track friendly at all for cars that weigh this much.

Lets talk 18x10, 18x10.5 or 18x11

Jamielle@Forged 09-21-2012 12:40 PM

Wedssport TC105N are actually lighter than RPF1s, we've weighted them.

805350z 09-21-2012 02:04 PM

If you want a cheap option. the XXR 527's are about 21 pounds 18x9.75 +20 again thats if you wanted a cheap set of track wheels.

Aren't these typically more expensive than the RPF1 though?

What offsets did you get? Z offsets are pretty low = more material, the 19 lbs is for higher offset F14s.

Voboy 09-22-2012 04:30 PM

The RPF1's are a tough wheel to beat for the weight and price. Find anything any cheaper, the wheel is heavier, and any lighter, the wheel is considerably more expensive.

I tend to get bored of the wheel design but oh well, hard to find a substitute in the same price range.

I ended up going with 18x10 +25 all around. I chose the 10 so I could fit 255 Hoosiers and a range of 265-295 of other tires.

They should be about 19.2 pounds (roughly)

Agreed. They are a very hard wheel to beat for weight and price. Your thoughts were mine exactly. I'm not a huge fan of the design and they are everywhere. I'm pretty content with the forgestars. They should arrive in a week.

3hree5ive0ero 09-23-2012 10:18 AM

^ Could you weigh the wheel (18x10 +25) so we can get a real weight, not just the advertised?

mr. sparco 09-23-2012 03:38 PM

18x10 +25, not to rain on your parade, just don't like how some ads can be misleading.

royblackwood 09-23-2012 05:29 PM

centerline rpm's 19 x 7.5 weigh 15.6 lbs although i'm running storms at 17 x 7 at only 11.8lbs

mr. sparco 09-23-2012 06:32 PM

Those are great sizes... on a Civic.

D@mn. I'm going to be a real grumpy customer if these end up being as heavy as your scale is showing. I should be recieving them in a week. Weight was a primary concern of this purchase.
