Sorry guys, it's just a photoshop for VQ35DES and Z4KR's request to get an idea what the gunmetal color would look like on the Track model wheels.
The question about the center cap is a good one. I guess you could have it colored too, or leave it plain depending on your preference; I never thought about the difference. I may tool around with that later. |
Haha, fooled me, not a bad job. You have to paint the center cap because it's plastic, can't powdercoat plastic. I just have to decide whether i'm going to spend a silly amount to have a body shop spray four little center caps, or compromise the color match a little and just spray paint them.

Originally posted by Jeff@Performance We've been pretty lucky with the place Jason has been using to powder coat our customers rims. We have had no problems powder coating the center caps as well!!! |
Wait a second..I just thought about this a little and it doesn't make sense to me. How can you powdercoat plastic? Powdercoat is applied to metal with a static charge to the metal to make the powder stick, then it is baked. Plastic doesn't conduct electricity, so the powdercoat wouldn't stick to it.

hey jeff...
I have the center caps powder coated on the LMGT4's... but we cant on the full plastic ones for the stockers... :( |

Performance folks,
What gloss are you applying to the "gunmetal?" its coming out very diluted, like you're only using say a 5% or 10% gloss. . . Also, for those of you wondering, this a great price for powdercoating a full set of rims. Average price runs about $100 - 150 / rim - so $450 for a full set is pretty good (plus all the legwork has already been done). . . Anyways, yeah, the "gunmetal" color could probably use a little more gloss. Otherwise pretty cool. . . |
