Default Pics of my Ultra Yellow with SSR Comp-Hs (18 x 9/10.5) w/ big rubber (No 56K)

Hey guys -- I purchased my 2005 Enthusiast last week. I am in the process of setting it up for track use.

My first mod was to add 18 x 9 (f) and 18 x 10.5 SSR Comp-Hs. I am running 265/35 and 295/35 Kuhmo MXs

I have not experienced any rubbing at all so far. But crawled under and took some pics to show the inboard clearance. I am a little concerned about it. Mostly about the screw I see pertruding -- I plan to investigate it further. Overall though I am pleased with the look -- but even more pleased with the immediate handling and grip upgrade the big rubber brought.

Up next -- a Stoptech 4-wheel kit. Question: I am a little concerned that red calipers (as much as I like them) will clash terribly with the Ultra Yellow. I am thinking black or silver. Please let me know you thoughts on the car -- and what color brakes I should get.

Without furth adieu ...

I don't think rubbing on the outboard side will be a problem.

Inboard clearances are tight

Big rubber -- notice the big fronts.

Note the screw pertruding close to the tire -- I didn't notice it until I looked at the pic. I will investigate further. I am a little concerned about clearance issues on the track when the suspension becomes compressed. Right now I am stock suspension -- but I plan to upgrade to something track orriented, but still street usable -- probably Nismo S-tune. But I will not be slamming the car.

Here are some more pics ...

The back looks lowered because I have a bunch of groceries back there.

Wheels look great! Love the comps. If you track the car I'd think about a power steering cooler with that larger-than-life rubber

Go for the BBK in black. Then you can fill in the name on the caliper with yellow paint. That would look very trick.

What are the offsets? I am thinking about running a similar set up.

Nice choice! That screw was making me nervous just looking at it. I'm going out to my car and see if I have one too. I wonder why it's there?

I want to just dremmel the protruding part off -- but I also want to make sure that the screw is not there for any really good reason.

I would dremel the screw, just for the hell of it. but if you lower the car 1" (typical), you will actually have more clearance from that screw. (btw, stillen has tokico d-spec shocks on sale for 429 for the set of 4 until 10/15, just ordered a set yesterday)

As for the brakes, I would go for black, with yellow JVD caliper stickers.

Does anyone in the Hollywood area have a workspace I could use. I have a jack, dremmel and all the tools necessary to cut that screw -- but I live in a condo and there is no power outlet for the dremmel down there.

Anyone have a garage I could borrow?

Default I have tracked my 18x10.5 SSR'r

I got a little rub at extream cornering using Yoko AVS Sports (295 ) in the rear. I never noticed it while running but discovered it when I changed to 265 Khumo ECSTA 700 track tires on my old 18x8 touring rims. The setup you have will not be a problem around town but it will rub the driver side cover over the gas filler pipe.

Mybe you tire is narrower than mine.

I also upgraded to a 350zbrake system that uses Wilwood calipers and it is great on the track.

I'm down in Long Beach if you want to make the drive. I'll be working on my car this week (new coilovers, brake bleed, pad replacement, mount my R-compounds) in preperation for this weekends NASA event at Buttonwillow. Lemme' know...

Looks good. Just dremel that screw and you'll be fine.

I would go for black calipers. Yellow and red is too much like Catsup and Mustard

Wow, wheel and tire set up same size as mine. Yours looks great. I dropped mine 1" all over and have tracked it without any rubbing problems what so ever.

Post again when you get a brake kit. I would go black as well with yellow lettering. Anything else would not look good imo.

C Ray --

Do you have that same pertruding screw? If so, did you do anything about it?

Sorrr C Ray -- I just for clarification.

Are you saying that the screw is not present in your car? Or that it is there, but that it has never presented an issue and therefore you have not had to do anything about it?
