I just took down a few manual E36 BMW M3's last Friday's Oval Circuit timed runs. One of them was on RComp tyres and he was 1.5 second slower.
I'm only on street tyres and I placed 3rd out of 9 in RWD category. I don't think M/T or A/T matters at all that much. All you have to do is know how to use it.

My girl wanted a "fast Nissan" but doesnt know how to drive a manual. I told her to get the new Maxima, problem solved! I from the group that sport cars shouldn't even have the option of AT. Drove my friend's GTR and although it's crazy fast, it was somewhat boring. When we went to ZdayZ he was telling me he was paying attention to everything but the road due to not having a true feel of the road/car.

Only if it's some kid who doesn't understand how to properly drive a 5AT. With a GOOD driver that's familiar with the Nissan 5AT (which is a freakin' work of art from an engineering perspective!), there isn't a gnat's *** of difference, performance-wise, between the two. The old manual vs auto argument just simply doesn't hold water with a few rare breeds of cars. The 350Z is one of those breeds. The difference is in the driver and not in the type of transmission he chooses to use.

I posted my reasoning for why I think manual is better, but you know what, as long as the owner is happy with their decision that is all that matters. You gotta live with your decision on what you got. That being said, my Z puts a smile on my face everytime I get in it.

We are trying to help with our opinions. Last time I checked its good to hear both sides of the arguements instead of just 1.

Everytime I get in my Z I smile, and I do the same, as I walk away I look back from time to time. Also when you turn heads when you drive by someone, gives me a good feeling.

As much as I would love to have a 6MT, living in Northern Virginia, driving stick is just a hassle and it really rides the clutch. There are 2 main reasons why I chose to buy a 5AT. The first was living in a traffic, rush hour fueled area, it just wasn't worth it. You mix that with snow and you're gonna be missing school, work, and events. The second reason is because my mom didn't have a car at the time either, so I had to take her into consideration as well since she doesn't know how to drive stick. As far as the drive itself, it's still a fun car. I drive an 09 Enthusiast and it has the sport shifter as well so if you're feeling tech, go for it. Turn off TSC if you have that option and you'll be sliding around Sure stick is a lot of fun, but make sure you're taking EVERYTHING into consideration.
