Default Engine Real Hot?

Long story short just got my Z rebuilt. Now i never really paid attention before, But is the front timing case & VTC Covers supposed to be VERY hot (too hot to keep your hand on) after only about 4 minutes after initial startup? (just idling)

Obviously i know the motor runs hot, But to me it just seems like its maybe heating up VERY fast?

Normal?

I Should add the car just had the timing chain and oil galley gaskets changed.

4 minutes should be long enough for your engine to reach operating temp depending on your weather conditions. Since you live in the middle of TX like me, it will warm up fast so I wouldn't worry about it. Monitor your coolant temp for the next few weeks if you're still concerned

What does your temp gauge say...

Are the fans coming on?

If its metal, next to the engine, of course its going to get hot.... the strut bar gets hot too.... even a metal air intake pipe will get hot.

Hit the hot engine with an IR temperature reader and give us an actual number instead of "too hot to keep your hand on" and maybe we'll be able to give you some useful information.
