Default quarter mile time got worse!?? confused.

so i went to the track last weekend...and ran a worse time than i did 1 year ago.

1 year ago the best i ran was a 14.2 (first time at the track), and i was stock with shitty tires (spin second and a little into third too). It was also cold.

Last weekend, best i ran was a 14.47. I'm not stock anymore, have a few bolt ons - plenum spacer, popcharger, HFCs, and borla cat-back. Tires were also better (traction not a big issue).

How is this possible? Couple things i was thinking:

cold weather made car perform alot better?
clutch could not be at full performance (stock clutch with 60k miles). It's not like slipping hardcore but i think it's a possibility?

or i just became a worse driver over the last year

any ideas or suggestions?

I'm not sure. I would say several factors could be affecting your times.

Don't fret too much. You'll figure out what the cause is and get it under control.

I just built my 5AT and ran horrible times. With a stock trans I was running 2 seconds faster than with a built trans. I went back and watched my videos and saw that I was spinning the tires the whole way down the track.

I would have someone go with you and watch your run. I would also video tape it so you can review it to see what is going on.

GL!

d00d, wayyyy too many variables. if you have both slips, post them up and then we might be able to help you.

hmm i deff dont have the slip from a year ago lol but imma try to look for the one from last weekend...

if i remember correctly,
best 60ft i got was 2.2-2.3
highest trap speed was 100.X

maybe that helps? I feel like it could be clutch cause last year i think i was hittin higher speeds...maybe just clutch is not puttin power straight down? Just speculating....

Again, way to many variables. Why don't you start by posting up the time slip so we can diagnose what the runs looked like (from this trip). It can be anything from weather to track prep and everything b/w that is effecting the cars times.

Could be your car got slower as well. Adding alot of breather mods to a car without a tune can reduce power.

Different environmental concerns also.

Who knows.

I was running 14.6-14.9 at the quarter then found out i had a code that didn't trigger the SES. I fixed it then i ran 9flat at the 1/8th with only one run and spinning all the way up to 3rd gear. If i had more runs im 100% sure that i woulda gotten in the 8s. Im guessing ima run ~13.**** at the 1/4 now.

I think you should consider getting a tune.

hey well i couldnt find the slips so i guess that throws out some help i could've received....

as far as tune....hmm i figured i wouldnt need it since its only really minor mods...just intake, spacer, HFC and exhaust...i figure i didn't do any major work so is a tune really something to consider? never thought of this. (sorry im a noob)

what was the code that u had? and how should i go about checking that....

thinkin bout after checkin these options out, getting a clutch/flywheel and going back to see if that was the problem...if not then maybe tune?

thanks for all the help!

Back in the day i did exhaust and intake mods to my IS 300 and i actually lost low end power. My car got **** slow comparing to stock..
Only above 60MPH was there ever a difference in power
Engine mods like these are a waste off imo but it will sounds nice..
Go for a tune maybe that will help

With 2 bolt ons my car ran better NA. Once I added more I was slower as well. The dyno proved I was running stock levels with less TQ. A retune significantly changed that.

Id guess that affected you and you probobly had worse conditions.

yeaa thanks for all ur help. looks like ill be replacing my clutch (exedy) and getting an ACT flywheel at the same...after that's all on if i feel a difference in my car i'll probably run at the track again (saving time slips this time of course lol) and thenn after that i'll start looking into the tune. after some quick research it seems that uprev osiris is the best bet for me

What's your problem.....not my fault you wasted your money. Looks like you enjoy it from the mods listed in your sig. Turbonetics=garbage, utec=garbage, and finally you=garbage. Assclown.

P.S I have turboxs products on my car, but utec is garbage on an NA car......bottom line.

Wasted my money? 500 for Utec, 2500 for turbo kit, 3000+ for tune, install, parts, etc.. under 7k for 350whp DD is all I need for the price I want. You dont like? Then suck my ***. No need to attack peoples preferences and budgets. 10k miles on my set-up btw. Later
