Hey guys, i drive an '09 Accord but i've always wanted a Z since i was a kid. Now that i'm old enough to start saving up for my OWN car for after college, would you recommend a Z in this region? I know the weather can be real harsh, but how are your experiences in it? How do Z's perform in the northeast, with and without tires, how you deal with it, and just anything you would like to say. Would you recommend it? All input would be appreciated. Thank you!

 

I park mine during the winter, so I would say it has worked out great for me.

 

When I got my z everyone told me I was stupid for getting a "summer car" in Boston when I can only enjoy it for 5-6 months. I don't regret it one bit. Never thought driving could be this much fun. What i did was i bought the z and saved a lil to buy a winter beater. Probably ur best move.

 

i drive my z everyday even in snow. its a lil struggle but if you drive slow then you will be fine. snow tires are a must.

 

My Z is daily driven. Always fun to drive in the snow without a problem for me since SNOW TIRES IS A MUST! not even all season will work so don't you dare try. I have a Z for 4years now and nothing is wrong with it since I keep it well maintain.

 

definitely need snow tires but very doable in the snow.

 

i keep mine covered when it snows or when its wet out, but this winter has been amazing. i have wheels just take them off between october and april. and watch out for awful pot holes. depends on what town you live in. i have been eye ballin the z since they released the new design in 03 and finally got mine last summer. best purchase of my 25 years lol. just read up a lot on here and do research. a lot of the 06's have oil consumption issues.

 

This has been discussed to death in this forum. I suggest searching and reading up on this subject. My recommendation is to keep the 09 accord as a winter car, otherwise it is a roll in the dice on how much snow and ice the region expects. I would also consider the fact this is a rear wheel car with some serious power if you have never driven anything like it. It can get away from you VERY easily. I was young and didnt care when I bought mine and there were days I couldnt get out of the drive way. Looking back I would have never purchased it without a winter car.

 

Thanks a lot guys, makes me want it even more now and trodis, i probably will keep the Accord and just throw on snow tires for a winter car. But the problem is that i live in an apartment so we have limited parking spaces, and no garage to keep the Z in!

 

Well, with tires every car will preform regardless of the weather. Without tires, your car is sitting on the wheel, and you may have trouble driving around

had my z 3 years daily drive ive never owned a set of snow tires just hit tcs and pratice your control i used toyo t1r's for snow tires this year

 

^ lol yeah I guess if you don't care about wrecking it in case it really does get away from you. I've gotten stuck in the past in the snow on my bf goodrich kdw2's and it's a real crapshoot nail-biter, especially in a hilly region forget it. I really do not recommend, going up I was sideways *** end out angled 45 degrees just to make it. Going down is no picnic either, zero grip, no brakes, the rear end constantly coming out trying to spin around. End up sliding down the hill backwards and you're toast. If you are not in the financial position to crash your sh*t, I would suggest another method.
