Talking New Install starting tomorrow

I almost have all the components I need for my complete install, I am still waiting on my sony XM-100 antanae (sp?) to come in, and my alpine CD/DVD/MP3 player to arrive - but it should be here by wednesday.

I have a Chrome Silver Touring Model that I have installed an Injen Red/Polished CAI, removed the pre-silencer, and just today had Formula One Performance Tint installed (18% everywhere, 35% entire windshield)

Here is what we will be starting to put in my ride as of tomorrow. Will probably take most of the week. I will try and post pics during the install process.

Alpine DVA-7996 CD/MP3/DVD Player
Alpine TME-M760 Monitor
Phoenix Gold 600.2 Amp
Phoenix Gold 500.4 Amp
Phoenix Gold EQ 232 1/3 Octave EQ
Phoenix Gold LPL44 Low Pass level Control
MB Quart RSC216 Reference 6.5 Components
MB Quart RKC116 Reference 6.5 Coax (Rear)
JL Audio 10W3 Sub - will go in a temp box to test the acoustics of the car, to try and find the best placement. Will later probably be going with 3x10w6v2 or 1 12w7.

All I think I am probably going to do after this, is gunmetal volk 37s, either large brembo, or stoptech brakes, maybe a wing, and probably a twinturbo.

Thanks to all the people on this site who has provided me with pics and info to help me make my selections for my mods!!!

I have the same HU and monitor installed in my car and you will be very happy with it. I am curious as to why you don't have a surround sound processor listed? It just seems such a shame to go so far (and spend so much money ) and not finish it while you're doing everything else, especially with that HU. Currently I have the Alpine PXA-H510 Dolby Digital processor installed and (I have been told) the sound is incredible, especially with the location of the "surround" speakers right behind you. Nonetheless I have decided to wait for Alpine's new PXA-H700 processor which supports DD 5.1, DTS, and Dolby Prologic II decoding for the DVA-7996. Hopefully it will be here next week. You may want to consider this while they have the whole car apart, as there should be little question that you will want it in the future. In any event definitely post pictures as you go. Good luck!

Default how much???? - Dayam...

Dont really want to think about that!

Thing is - it keeps getting more expensive! - Since this post I also purchased the Phoenix 232 30 band EQ!!!

I have everything worked out now, except the subs - Will probably try to do 1 JL audio 12w7, 1 10w7, 2 x 10w6, 2 10w3. Not sure on the box right now. Will have to give it some more though.

Also - got the windows tinted with 18% - and 35% on the front window.

AND - got one of those small antenaes - works pretty well. - Well enough for regular radio for me, and looks really good. - Besides - this thing is going to have XM radio anyway!

Have taken some pics, and will post soon.....

Talking First Phase Complete - Pics Inside

After 3 weeks of not having my Z, I now have it back. - Finally.

The installer had my car for almost as long as I had it!!!

The install was done by Lance at Sound Waves in Memphis TN
http://www.soundwavesmemphis.com

I took some pics tonight of the car, and the installer took pics with his digital camera every phase of the install, when I get the pics of the install in progress I will post them back here.

This is just the first part of the install, as I am out of cash for now. We have the equipment in, and added a 600 watt power inverter that is wired to the ignition (PS2, charging phone, laptop, or whatever else).

Alot of the install time was putting in the dynamat. We basically did the entire car - Door panels, hatch, wheel wells, firewall, etc.

The Alpine XM radio tuner 'brain' device and power inverter were mounted under the passenger pocket. The Alpine monitor 'brains' device was mounted to a piece of metal under the plastic where a glove box would go - looks pretty cool with the rca connectors facing the floor for easy access.

Right now I dont have the XM Antennae mounted to the plastic - the wire is inside of the plastic keeping it in place. I wanted to make sure reception was ok with the location and the window tint. All seems well with reception, so we are going to cut a small square out of the plastic to hide the wire and make it look flush.

I was going to go with 4 gauge wire, but after talking to Lance and since the Phoenix Amps draw so much amperage we decided to go with 1/0 power wire instead.

The bose sub was removed (of course). Where the sub was we monuted the Phoenix Gold EQ. I have one issue with the phoenix gold eq because it only has one set of rca inputs, only one set of rcas were run from the head unit, to the EQ, to the amp, then to the sub amp. This means no fading, and subwoofer level control. The sub level control isnt a big deal because I have the LPL44 low pass level control - it basically controls the sub amp gain level. I can basically adjust the fade from front to rear by changing the gains on the 4 channel amp, but I still would like more flexability, and also want the ability to take out alot of the highs from the rear. Currently I have the front gains turned quite a bit up to combat the loudness of the rear speakers. Because of this I have decided to ditch the Phoenix Gold EQ and replace it with an Audio Control EQS EQ - it has 6 inputs and 8 outputs and will automatically detect between 4 and 6 inputs. This will allow me to adjust EQ each set of input seperately.

I have only had the system for a day, and there is quite a bit of tweaking to do and still havent gotten too much into the features of everything, so far I really love this head unit. It plays DVDs, MP3 cds, Video CDS, will do XM radio, etc. This is my first experience with XM radio, and so far I really love it. Other than it loosing singal in a garage or under a gas station canopy it seems to be a real good technology and has great sound.

The amps are temporarily mounted on the carpet covered board while I save up some more dough and we decide what to do for an Amp rack. I will probably be purchasing the box that Nizl made a fiberglass mold for under the rear tower brace. I like the 3x 12w6v2 install and think it looks good but the middle sub kills some much needed space for me. I will probably go with 2x 12w6v2 or 2x 10w6v2 subs (whichever is right for the airspace) and make them flush with the strut tower brace. We will then build an amp rack using the area in front of the strut tower brace.

My concern now is security. I am getting one of the CompuStar alarms from Nizl, and it is going in next week. - I like the idea of actually getting the opportunity to catch someone doing something to my car (2 way alarm) as I have had my stuff and 60 cds stolen before.

This is temporary until we decide what to do for subs and the amp rack:

The pnoenix gold LPL44 low pass level control (basically controls the gain on the sub amp) - Really like this thing, but will probably order a replacement black switch and move the location of this to another blank I have near the left of the steering wheel. We could recess this some more, but I dont like the idea of someone else bumping into it or messing with it. (Might blow something)

Center console pics. Wish the alpie in dash DVD would do some effects or something while playing music like I have seen the pioneers do, but am very happy with it none the less.

DVD playing is the Rock - am very happy with the picture so far.

Entire car opened up.

Shot of just the rear hatch of the car.

My installer put this sub in to test out everything and is loaning it to me for a couple of days. It is a diamond audio, and for a 10 in a small box it really has alot of output. I am going to make a similar square box and throw a 10w3 in it until I decide what to do for the box and amp rack.

Nice choice of equipment...its nice to see a fellow Phoenix Gold lover ! I used the same location in my install for my LPL44...good choice. That system will sound sweet when its done, but be sure to do some serious dynamatting...

Here is a link to my thread using PG amps, JL seperates, and a JL 10W6v2 sub:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=20371

You have a lot of options for mounting your amps, and here is what I chose to do...good luck with your install, it will look and sound nice once its done !
