I just got my 06 305ZTR in Jan, how would you suggest I get the same setup and have it installed? I don't feel comfortable installing it myself. Thanks in advance for any wisdom!

The most important thing to do is get the 03 cubby hole. After that everything should be fine.

If you are looking to do Bluetooth or Ipod interfacing it is worth upgrading. Other than that you will gain small details and actually lose some features.
Some of the small details are a larger screen 6.5" VS. 6.95", newer graphics although the DDX8017 graphics were not to bad, the ability to do DVD-Audio(not much people even know about these, most people think it is a Music DVD Movie). The features you lose are the 5.1 decoding, center channel preout, 4 band parametric EQ, Digital time alignment and multiple crossover settings. I am actually looking at adding an external proccesor just to gain all the EQ, Time Alignment, and Crossovers back. Hope this helps

Could you elaborate alittle on the choice to use the 03 cubby? Is it deeper or wider? A DIY would be awesome, but even still I wonder if like Best Buy would install it.

It is wider. The DIY would be the same as the Farenheit one, that is here on the Forum. I do not beleive Best Buy would do this

Can you tell me if this unit has a detachable faceplate? They specify that the DDX-7019 does, but I have'nt seen anything about the DDX-8019? I would assume it does..

that's weird.. ahh, maybe just the buttons (control panel) can be detached then...

bc i would think of Crutchfield as the guru for anything related w/car electronics and have accurate info... that's what they specify.. "control panel"

Nazar was professional and fair. Even with me nagging him ever so often waiting for my DDX8019 to come in (when they first came out)! He'll take care of you!

Other than that you do not need to access the buttons except when setting up the unit, after that you can putthe trim on.
I am doing a similar install using the 7" kenwood but not the DDX8019 but can you please continue explain how you change video sources??? I can very well imagine wanting to use the radio for DVD's as well as CD's.

Did you try your current cubby?

Where did you buy your 03 cubby?

DNX7100 has built-in navigation.. DDX6019/7019/8019 require you to buy the external Kenwood KNA-G510 navi unit (~another $350-$400 shipped). The (+) side of the DDXs is they have multiple function capabilities, input/output, external switches, voltage (dependent on model), etc, etc...

Not sure how XMNavtraffic might work between the two, though. Hopefully should work the same for both. But this is an issue few can/have been able to answer for me (meaning manufacturers themselves).. it's just too "early" in the Navtraffic game..

Ok, here is the solution for everyone wanting to use the Kenwood monitor and want to feed another video source into it. Since the V.SEL button cannot be pushed once the finisher is in place it is just a matter of using the rear camera input on the monitor and making the monitor think you are putting the car in reverse when you really are not. What this does is it shows any video signal being sent into it automatically. The way I acomplished this was using one of the DDX8019's external outputs to make it think the car was being put into reverse. Since you are not using the DDX8019 you can easily acomplish this using a toggle switch. Hope this all makes sense for those of you wanting to do this. As far as the cubby, you must use the 03 cubby, the other year cubbys will not work. You should be able to pick it up at any Nissan Dealer. When I want to show the video signal from the DDX8019on the LZ702W, all I do is touch the icon on the DDX8019 and it shows the video signal on the LZ702W. It is that simple.

I'm now thinking of going stupidly crazy and taking out my Farenheit screen, replacing it with the 702w and also adding the G510. This will allow me to have the Nav on either the 7100 or the 702w.
