Thanks everyone!!!
I'm really happy how it all turned out, the steering wheel controls change tracks with the iPad because of being connected to the Head unit via USB which I wasn't expecting but turned out to be a bonus. Can't wait to drive some more and test out all the features... I'm also making a piece to cover the iPad to make it look like nothing is there for security reasons, I will post pics later.

Awesome work man, beautiful install. I'm sure anyone who's never seen the inside of the Z will think it's completely stock. Loved that you filled the pingpong mesh and painted it. I wanna do that now! I had this in mind when I first heard about people putting in PC's in their cars, I figure having an iPad in there seems more logical. and every since the iPad mini came out, I was set on putting that in there. The downside I see to this is that it'd have to be an almost permanent installation. I'm sure you could take it out but i'd hate to keep taking out the center console just to take out the iPad. All in all I'm very thankful you posted this install. It's been added to my things-to-do list. Although I have a question: You mentioned that the iPad was compatible with steering wheel functions via USB to head unit right? Was it a straight connection to the USB plug that the head unit comes with or did you have to buy the KS-U30/KS-U49 cable and then use a 30-pin to lightning adapter? I'm also looking at getting a new head unit at the moment and I'm torn between Alpine and jvc. I know Alpine requires you to get their cable and then use the 30-pin to lighting adapter. But if JVC is a straight connection without extra cable and adapter, then I'll get the JVC.

Great idea. The silver part of my steering wheel is looking awful. It looks like some kind of clear coat is peeling off. I will give this stuff a try. Where do you buy it?

I had to use the JVC KS-U30/KS-U49 cable and the 30-pin to lightning adapter with the JVC's USB to make everything work right. All the head units currently on the market don't work 100% with the lightning Apple products. I got everything to work perfect except the cover art and video playback on the JVC deck due to the NEW digital video output on the lightning cables. Most head units only accept analog video input only.

There is no need to access the home button or the lock button. The iPad goes to sleep after 2 min (or your choice) and wakes when the headunit turns on or changing tracks from the steering wheel controls will also wake the iPad. This method allows for a clean install without any buttons!

I'm impressed, great job! Could you please explain in detail the process? I would also like to paint my center console. Did you completely sand the texture; or just the deep scratches, fill it with primer, and sand it?

Beautiful work
Beautiful work. I went with the iPad Air (Pics attached) for my 350. Though I recently picked up a 370 NISMO (350 got totaled).
I can't say; however, that I had to skill set to do it myself. I took it to a shop and they did it.
