Tried the RaceRender software. Still looks like a ride to the grocery store but at least there are some numbers to distract the viewer.

Shannonville Long Track 7th of July 2012
well I had a track day on saturday which started really badly with a lot of rain but as the day went by the rain left and the sun came !!!
First , last year I had my RS-3 without the big wing & splitter and I did 2:04
Second , my first track event at Cayuga I got 1:20.9 with the RS3 +wing&splitter
then I did about 1:21.3 with the RE11 a week later with about the same weather @ CSCS.ca
I had time to re-learn the track with the RE11 but Im sure I would have done a lower time with the RS3 by atleast 1 full second since they had more rear traction and I couldnt do much with the RE11 .
so yesterday I went for the day at Shannonville doing the long track
I brought my new set of wheel which are Enkei RPF1 mounted with 275-35-18 Toyo RA1
I had the same RE11 that used at Cayuga
The RA-1 showed to be about 3 sec faster !!!
im not too too impress but I hope they get faster very soon !!!
the next CSCS event is this sunday !
RE-11 = 2;02.611
RA-1 = 1;59.609

Does anyone have any lap times @ Cayuga with a bone stock 350z? I was hoping to benchmark my time against others for a stock 350z just out of curiosity to see how much room for improvement there is

I was able to get out to TMP Cayuga Sat. Aug 18th for my second track day experience. The track was crazy busy, and there were some amazing cars out, including a prototype which I was in awe (and nearly sharted my pants) when he passed me.
My car is a 2004 350zr. All stock except JWT intake, H&R coilovers which are currently set too low for track use, and RS-3's on RPF1's (18's), 2006 oem brake swap (non brembo) with Stoptech Street Pads, Superblue fluid, and Russell SS lines which all held up amazing. I was able to go 10 laps at a time with zero issues. The original '04 oem brakes were fading after 2 laps, which resulted in only getting about 10 total laps in that day, which equalled what I could do in one stint with the new brakes.
Unfortunately I was using Harry's Lap Timer and combined with user error, and my TomTom iPhone mount giving me trouble due to a bad connection, I wasnt able to get any proper lap times with it.
I did have my buddy who was riding with me manually time some laps while he was riding with me and my best was a 1:27.63, which i was very pleased with considering I didnt have a lap all day without dealing with slower traffic.
My goal is to get into the sub 1:25's in the near future. My biggest flaws are my braking points, and line through turns 1, and the chicane 8,9, and 10.
Future mods will include optimizing suspension by raising my ride height, and going back to can-alignment to have the car re-aligned and corner balanced at its new height. Sway bars (I'm thinking Hotchkis) and a better seat (Corbeau or the like) as i felt I was straining to stay in the stock seat, and using the steering wheel to hold on and keep me planted. My arms were wrecked at the end of the day because of this.
I would love to hear suggestions from you other members on ways to improve, or if my mods list are not optimized for my goals.

A bone stock DE Z can probably do 1:30-1:28. The biggest difference will be tires since the suspension is decent stock and there isn't a lot of power to be "bolted on". After that there is some weight that you can lose. Of course learning the track and the car will help too
Stock brakes will over heat, both pad fade and fluid boiling. Running a better fluid is cheap and easy. Race pads can handle the higher temps as well. Its just lack of airflow and a small rotor size, otherwise the brakes are plenty strong.

^ Thanks...I guess I didn't do too bad with the Z considering it was the first time that I took the car out to this track and was able to hit 1:31.435 (not the most accurate time as I had a passenger help me do the timing). Forgot to to mention that I did have the pads changed to the Stoptech street pads and Motul 5.1 brake fluid, but was running on some fairly old Michelin Pilot Sports.
Hoping to get some better tires for next year and see how much of a difference that makes. I also found the VDC to be very intrusive and after digging around, it looks like there's no easy way to fully disable VDC without doing some re-wiring

Hitting the button should be enough. Had mine completely disabled a few times and didn't notice it to be any faster. Probably not worth complete disable until you are on slicks.
From what I remember, I ran about 1:32s my first time out. Maybe down to 29s before changing tires and stuff.

oh, 100% turn it off lol. I mean you don't need to cut the power to the module (thus fully disabling it). Hitting the button disables it about 95%, however if you spun out it would still try and save your life a little
If I forget to turn mine off I get one turn in on the warm up before I notice it messing with me. It would be nice to have a setting, like 1-4, as when its on its just too intrusive even in the rain.

I should re-phrase my comment, even when I turned the VDC off I felt it was kicking in a bit too early for my liking especially at turn 3. I couldn't drive the car with it on at all haha
I agree, if only they had designed the module so that you had atleast 2 different settings with one of them being fully off, that would have been great, especially since the Z is a sports car

Do you think sways would be the next logical purchase? How much of a difference did you find when you installed your Hotchkis sways?
