anyone ever figure out exactly how the 350z is able to get sufficient air flow to the intake opening through the tiny gap between the bumper and hood? or is it getting its air supply from somewhere else behind the bumper?
I didnt understand this question. thru the grill and thru that hole.
thats wat i find confusing from the oem design. the gaps are rather small and the grill is way underneath the not even near the intake opening.
that is what they gave us, i think it works. putting the filter down there should to. I will do it at some point or work on the heat shield not that they didnt provide me with a perfect plastic box. I was thinking like the one made by ARK.
Now if i can get me some alum. sheeting...
I have the stock box with the k and n filter in the closet. I originally posted I got a better 1/8 mile this way and better gas mileage. Is it so hard to believe? I was one of the people about a year ago that said this about heat soak. But the opposite would apply in winter. And I was bored.
Not really heat soak, but the JWT will ingest hot air while at a standstill. It takes a few seconds for the hot air to clear the area, then it pulls the same temp air as a CAI , but it also takes a few seconds for the AIT sensor to come down in temp , that is where the loss in performance is. 1/8 mile I can see the stock box being better, but in the 1/4 mile the JWT will actually excel .
Road course , short ram with heat shield hands down.
I care more about my performance after the car is moving and never race from a dig. Short ram is my choice .
Btw , JWT actually draws air from the fwd section of the wheel well, same place a CAI would be mounted.

sounds like what your saying makes sense, so far it has been better, if anything I can switch filter to JWT. I kind of like the filter with the hole in the center. I would like to see some independent testing for air flow rates and filtration of the different cone filters. I can always switch back later.

From the air flowing through the front air dam and through the inlet. It's a pressurized design.
^i wouldnt worry unless u live in an area that rains like a tsunami. i dont even have the bypass on in hawaii it doesnt rain much and i dont do much driving
Truth is you guys cant think for yourselves you need each others approval. An alum. tube is an alum. tube and a filter same unless you can prove differently with unbiased research.
