I only know what I learned from the HPA guys but it seemed like Link offered more in-depth control of the ECU along with better knock control tuning strategies. I also think their road-tuning tools were far superior.
One of the best things I did was take HPA's coursework. It was $500+ but well worth it. When you do sign up for course work you are able to watch (live or recorded) their ~1.5hr tutorials which target & focus on single aspects of tuning a car.
Quite possibly the best selling point was they used a haltech to tune a 350z. They've since picked up Link, and AEM and done tuning lessons using each. So, not only are you exposed to tuning lessons but you're also exposed to different ECU setups on the platform. Furthermore, there were lessons where they used a Toyota sedan and they got a Toyota BRZ(AE86).
