New Nismo 370Z is an Embarrasment compared to the 350Z

I wouldn't read too much into this test... it may be inadvertantly skewed. I can't imagine the 370 Nismo only gained .500 sec on the previous Track model. An extra 40-50 horses in a lighter package with wider tires and better grip, and to boot, over a huge track. Almost all competent drivers have been stating the 370 Sport has been 1-2 seconds faster over a 2 mile track. Its also should be noted the journalist all thought the engine wasn't as strong as it should be. That and the brake issue confirms there could have been more problems than originally let on.

Can't remember which car magazine I read (I have it somewhere), but they were testing the braking in some cars including the Nismo 350Z, i.e. stopping distance, repeat hard braking etc. The Nismo did really well up until the brake lines overheated. The braking distance increased significantly and basically sucked. This also occurred in one of the Infinity SUV's. I suppose having the fluid/brake line overheat is much better than having the brake pads give out? I wouldn't know.
Back on topic, it is a bit dissapointing to see the 370Z time so close to the 06 350Z. I would've expected that extra hp to really kick more ***.

370Z Nismo Haters
Wow 4 pages and 65 posts of mainly 370 Nismo bashing and not a single 370 Nismo owner in the group that I can tell. I thought this was a sub forum for the 370Z and the 370 Nismo. When I first joined this forum I posted on the 350 Nismo side and got jumped on by the 350 Nismo elite. If you don't own a 370 Nismo then you really don't know what you are talking about. Magazines and road test and 1/4 mile times ect. is not the only thing that matters to most people when they buy a car unless you're 16 years old.
I like my 370 Nismo my previous car was a 911 Targa and I don't regret trading it for the Nismo. It is an awesome car. I've never driven a 350 Nismo but I don't go around comparing specs or bashing them on the 350 Nismo forum.

People will inevitably start comparing cars, especially when a newer version comes out. There's no doubt the 370Z and especially the Nismo version is an overall improvment. I think people just expected more as a next generation Z car. People's opinions are just opinions. That's a forum for ya.

Well said, I don't think people are really hating on the car, it's just with the extra HP, people were expecting more from the NISMO 370Z. The NISMO 350Z was a well thought out car (although more power over the normal Z would have been nice). How can anyone deny that being so close in times with the Cobalt SS isn't embarrassing?

GET IT RIGHT! The Nissan techs stated they thought it shoud have been spec'ed with a better pad, but the noise and dust considerations led to a lesser track oriented pad. My guess is it was cheaper too, again suggesting a comprimise in spec'ing a "Performance Oriented" version of a sport coupe/car with lesser parts. And the funny thing about that side note, they said they may get the Nismo package updated to include an option for the better pads. WOW... this means if you press the car hard you need to upgrade the upgraded brake package or risk a failure. I'm no lawyer but it would seem that if the techs are right about the reason for the failure Nissan could be open to litigation related to brake failure, only made worst by the fact their own techs ID'd a problem with the specifications of the car. I hate to say bad things about Nissan but that should be scary for anyone who own a 370 with the sport or Nismo package. NOW THAT'S PATHETIC.

I know this is going to make people mad, but im going to go ahead and say it anyways. Has anyone driven both the 370z and the 350z? There is a lot of things that they changed for the better, and some things that unfortunately stayed the same. There are some good opinions on why it should be faster or perform better, but it is an all around better car (maybe not to some, and maybe not for the price difference). But to call the nismo 370z an embarrassment because of its lap time around a specific track is not really a valid statement.

i see your side dont get me wrong, but the comments being made about 370z nismo are ridiculous and pathetic. Just because it had bad/wrong/incorrect spec'd break pads, the WHOLE car is a failure...come on...thats a simple swap...simple mod...the over all car is an improvement over the previous
I'm over it.

That is VERY embarrassing. But not necessarily for the 370z, more for Nissan quality control in general. I do think that the 370z is a better car, and i own both.. the 370z is a far cry from perfect... I personally have things already wrong with my 370.. that nissan WONT fix. but to call the car an embarrassment is a slight overstatement.
