Default Interested in a 2011 AutoCross Championship?

As posted over on the Driver forum.

Trying to gauge interest in setting up a Z/G AutoX 2011 chanpionship. Details are still up in the air but would be something along the lines of a points system based on best 8 of 10 events with trophys and banquet (lunch). I'd say from $1-5 per event. We'd piggy back on other groups autox events of corse.

Word up G !

I'll give it a go.... Don't mind donating to a good cause !

Also, is the competition just among the Z's & G's ? Or will it be open
to the outsiders, or the BMW/S2000/Mazda peeps as well.

Is there a sign up sheet yet on G35 site ?

Lets limit it to VQ engines, all sizes, any modifications. I'll draft up a set of rules.

Wish I could compete in this. It sucks being between two cities because I can only run, but not do any sort of competition.

I'm in.

But how are us mostly-stock folks going to be competitive (besides catching Gavin/Jason/Jake on a bad day)? I'm not necessarily voting for classes, but there must be a way to award points (or remove seconds off a stockers run?) to even the playing field. Like a grading curve sort of.

Just thinking out loud.

Thanks Jake,

Yeah, I'm bone stock & auto....just Exhaust, Plenum spacer, and intake. I might get an UpRev tune one day soon so I can have the rev limiter raised to 7k. Not too sure how much more whp you gain.....10-15 maybe ?

Andy, you ran faster than me yesterday....so no excuses....I don't really think the Turbo's have a huge advantage in the autoX.

But the R comps have significant advantages. So if there is going to be any points given or sec's added or subtracted....then it should be done there.

I'm looking for wheels & tires right now.

It's all about getting better throughout the day. At the one I went to a couple weeks ago, I gained about 5 seconds between my first and fourth run. Just keep pushing a little more each time and find that perfect line.

I won't get into the complication of setting up a PAX (Professional Autocross indeX) scoring system. I want to do this to setup some friendly (low cost/minimal rules/minimal enforcement/low reward) competitiveness.

I think we saw yesterday that there's some good competition between our small group. Outside our group the competition is entirely to steep because of class issues. I can't touch a good S2000 driver when we run with BMW, nor can I do anything with SCCA rules because I run some odd @ss class, as most of us would. But that RX-8 had me putting in one of my best runs ever this past weekend because it was actually close.

I've included my draft rules thus far. I'm particularly looking for input on the president/treasurer thing or should one person just set everything up?

I'm going to collect names after Thanksgiving. If I have five people in we'll consider it a go an hope a few more tag along. I'd like to setup the 10 events ASAP for obvious reasons.

If participation is reasonable we can even consider a summer shootout for those back from college (say 4 events) with ranked (1st and 2nd) members unable to compete. But thats too far out to really think about yet.

I'm still ready for this to happen so let's get some of these guys out to have fun.

Gavin, I think we can get enough to do this.

Just autocross events right? I'm not ready to kick my car's **** on the faster/longer races.

**Well I guess I could have read the thread title.... but just to be sure I have the same definition of autocross as you guys.
