Parking
For MT owners:
Do you leave your car in gear when you park (while using the parking break) or do you just put her in neutral and use the parking break by itself. I have been accustomed to doing the former but one of my friends told me it wasn't necessary and I was wondering what all of you do. I have noticed that when I parked on a fairly steep parking spot that the parking break itself was not adequate (like I said, it was pretty steep). Do any of you just put it in neutral when you are on a level surface?
thanks,

I always leave it in first gear as well: never trust the parking brake on its own. Your car might end up down the street! Also, angle the wheels towards the curb (when downhill) or away from the curb (when uphill) or towards the right (when uphill and there is no curb).
I always leave the car in 1st but only use ebrake when on a hill. my grand cherokee's discs got so hot that some of the brake pad was transfered onto the disc and "warped" it. which is weird cause it never happened when i used my miatas ebrake.

Ditto here. I am so used to it that I use the e-brake in all the cars, auto or manual.
