What is this security light you speak of?

I saw Reese's suggestion of stuffing felt pad between the dash and the windshield. I tried it and the rattle is gone. Thanks Reese.

i had my dash rattle fixed under warranty last fall.....it could be fixed. Just take it back and ask for the tech who is specialized in rattles. My dash rattle was so bad that selling the Z was one of my options.

To the original poster ... is it coming from your shift ****? If so, do you have a different **** instead of the OEM one? If you do it is probably the ring in the shift ****, when I installed my MOMO shift **** I had to take it out because it rattled like crazy. Took it out, put the **** back on, and no rattles. Hope that helps...

I have rattles everywhere, they turn on and off. I take it to the dealer, and they always state they are unable to locate them. All they did was spray silicone on the rattles, which fixed it for about a week, then they just keep comming back to haunt me.

The rattles are comming from the dash, the guages, shifter ring (only when I use the 5AT sport shift), rearview mirror, rear brace bar, and the rear bumper.

I have also considered selling the Z, maybe for a rx8, rsx, eclipse, even a tc.

there is a TSB for this....

When I picked up my 04 Touring 6 speed, there was a terrible rattle coming from the shifter. I took off the shifter **** when I got home and found a brass washer, about a quater inch thick. Took it out and, of course, the rattle went away. Do you think someone was just screwing with me or is this washer important?

I've had several rattles also - 03 performance
I had most taken care of at the dealer with TSBs but today i finally got fed up and pulled the Z into the garage and took the passenger door panel off and stuffed it with foam to stop all the door rattling - it worked.
someone suggested stuffing the felt cloth btwn the dash and the windshield...is there a gap there anyway?? i don't want a piece of cloth just sticking out of the gap...
i just had the clicking noise when rolling up the windows taken care of - but now my driver's side window makes a weird rattle...i have to crack it about "1/8 just to stop that rattling....i wonder if it's touching the door post outside when rolled up completely...the drop mechanism still works...
last thing - does anyone know whether replacing sparks is the best way to address rough idle??
thx

i would think some rattles in this type of car (hard sprung, hard plastics) would be "normal" After a few years..

My seat squeaks when I turn......and I have a buzz that sounds like it's coming from inside the headliner.

Oh...and I've got about 26,000 miles on my 04.5.

But when I went to Nissan to get them to look at the noises....they said they didn't cover rattles after 12,000 miles. !@#$%^
