This summer gas was up to like $2.60/gal. for premium here in L.A. Right now it's 'down' to like $2.49/gal. As someone said above we are being done over. Does anyone know what reason they give for gas being so much more expensive here in CA? Or do they even GIVE a reason?

It's California. Everybody does CA over if they can. That, and we insist on our own 'special' extra clean gas that nobody else is dumb enough to use, so it has to be mixed just for us (which keeps supply low and prices high. Espcially since they always seem to have a couple of refineries down for maintenance during peak travel months)

for 93 i pay $1.93 here. That is pretty brave, reminds me of the seinfeld episode where Kramer takes the saab on a test drive.

Not to get political but California is a democratic state. Bush comes from Texas. Hence low, low prices in his home state and he also an attitude of "F'k the democratic Califonian's, charge them out the a$$ for gas" mentality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever the reason, I think MonkeyBoy is right when he says it's ********. The most frustrating aspect is that we have virtually no say so whatsoever. What are we supposed to do? Walk to work? We have to accept whatever price they feed us.

I think there has always been a pretty big difference is the price of gasoline in TX as opposed to California. That didn't start with the Bush administration.

Correct. California is just more expensive overall. Additionally, California has more environmental regulations than any other state (although Massachussetts supposedly comes close); and Texas is very close to the Gulf of Mexico, where a lot are offshore drilling occurs.

I live in the bay area, gas is usually cheaper when I go to So Cal, it is cheaper in the middle of no where, it is cheaper almost everywhere than here.

When I visit the London, I am glad I have cheap gas and cleaner air back home.

It is all relative.

Yes, you're right. One thing that really trips me out about San Francisco is that you can never find a gas station ANYWHERE. It seems like you have to drive out of town to get gas. And the gas within the city is just way way too expensive. Beautiful city though.

Chris, if you like Chevron, there are a few good ones in the South Bay. Saratoga/Kiely, Winchester/Payne, De Anza/Homestead, Lawrence/Homestead, (recently) Lawrence/Pruneridge, and of course, 101/Capitol. It's actually a few cents cheaper than Cerritos, CA (Carmenita/South).

- Wow! I never knew the President is in charge of gasoline prices. I thought that was the CIA.

Now I know why gas was free in Arkansas for so long :-).

I fill up for 1.82 /gal for 93 octane in The Colony, (north of Dallas by lake lewisville). If you can prove that President George W. Bush is responsible for my gas prices being lower in Texas cause he is from texas. That makes me even happier that I voted for him.

You might want to change your fuel filter.

Does anyone else think this to be bad on the fuel pump ... it has no positive pressure to "feed" it ... so it is kind of scavencing for gas at that point

i dunno, just a though

btw Tom ... I like your UPS truck .... I mean ... the way you package things
