i did valet at one point too, i worked for a valet company before.

i dont think they are uneducated morons, these guys are trying to make a living at minimum wage and make almost no tip..

then again maybe you are a better person cuz you make more money...

i wouldnt valet my car myself but if u do, stay away from the teens. theyre not morons but these teens will play with your car and push it to the limit when your not around.

 

Thank you and you are right. No valet should ever be upset with a $5 tip . I never expect a big tip unless I am asked to something out of the ordinary (wash a car, keep up front, etc.).

 

I was at a starbucks one time waiting for someone.

This guy comes up to me asking me for gas money.

I gave him 1 dollar and he goes that's it too. I gave him another dollar.

He tried to use the fact that we're both asian to get me to give him money.

another time I had a guy come up to me in the fry's parking lot asking me for 30 to fix his car and that his family was stranded. I was stupid and actually gave him 10 bux.

Yet another time a guy walks by my house trying to sell magazines for his church or something. He looked like a crack head that was dressed up in church clothes. I later see his "coworker" picking him up in a van jamming to loud rap music.


In houston there seems to be a bum at every intersection asking for money. Even worse, I see kids out here asking for money.

Screw them all and don't give them one more dollar from now on. They probably make more money than us doing that crap.

I'm just angry at myself I got took the times I did.

 

don't feel sorry for the valets at south coast plaza. i'm pretty sure they make more than enough money from tips from "upper class" people that go shopping there.

 

I valet everywhere I can! There is that "common sense eye-contact bond" and firm handshake I give if I don't know them already. I have never been nicked or dinged while it's been in their keeping.

** I NEVER ...EVER give Money to lazy street bums ....They target people with nice cars and/or who are dressed nicely....I ALWAYS tell them "I'm broke dude, sorry"...and they just walk away...Works EVERY time! I would give them a can of if I had one though...LOL
