Why the track model??????
Have been reading here and some other forums.
Seen some people getting rid of their touring models, etc for the track?
Why the preference?
Really any advantage?
Thanks

I don't know if it's true that people are dumping their Touring models for the Track. I find that rather difficult to comprehend
Anyway, if this were true, than some of the reasons that I think may have swayed them are:
1) Lighter Volks 18"
2) Brembros
3) Aero Kit: debatable
4) Rarity compared to Touring models

Here's the rationale behind each model from my own POV, with each trim level and its main selling point:
Base -> Good deal
Enthusiast -> Good deal + worthwhile VLSD
Performance -> Different wheels
Touring -> Leather seats
Track -> Nicest wheels and brakes

I got touring because Im not so impressed with the ray design, nice wheels, but Ive seen nicer. as for brakes, I might add them myself, in the mean time I like the leather heated seats, and the bose should be nice, but Ill let you know in a week or 2.
For those who don't have the Track model, and have some desire to just "upgrade the brakes later," you might consider the $$$ of retrofitting to Brembo brakes.
The unconfirmed price of 350Z Brembo parts (pads and installation not included):
$1,100 per caliper front x2
$875 per caliper rear x2
$450 per rotor x4
That's a $5750 upgrade, folks.
Of course, the aftermarket will have more cost effective upgrades, but they will NOT likely be as balanced as the factory setup. Just take a look at the miserable results that Sport Compact Car got with the StopTech brake kit on an early 350Z.

I got mine for the wheels and brakes and I couldn't resist loving the fact that you can't get leather in it, unless you go aftermarket. I hate leather seats and think they're more work than they're worth. Just my humble opinion.

I put the aero package on my Touring 6MT.
As for Rims.. not decided yet.
As for Brakes... I'm holding out until I can afford some ENDLESS Brakes!!!
My buddy chose his Track edition because he wanted top of the line. He can barely afford it ( 22 year old! ) but he loves the car to death. He loves saying he has brembo brakes.. and they show through the rims.
Overall, worth the extra $$ he paid over base... although after financing and everything, he paid about 38k!!!

The Touring 6 MT also gives you the Perfomance Package (LSD, VDC, 18's, and TCS). Of course, it also weighs more than the Track Model.
I decided to order the Touring 6MT because you get just about everything available for the Z except for lighter rims and Brembos. Also got the Nav....mats...and aero package.

6000$ for brembos sure is unconfirmed, its downright insane. brembo kits cost 3000 at most. or I wait a month till a track Z is totalled and buy the brakes off it from the junkyard. could do the same to a last gen skyline, they have the same brakes on the front.

Try $11,140 for the Brembo 15" kit for the Viper GTS/R kit...and that's for the front brakes alone.
The 13.1" Brembo kit (front only) for the Skyline GTR goes for $2995.
It's not that inconcievable that the front and rear Brembos cost over $5k when purchased as individual parts. Why not ask your local friendly Nissan parts department to confirm?
