Default Pics from underneath the Track 350Z

I had to take the car in for a flat tire this morning and they put the car up on the lift. So of course, being the obsessed owner I am, I had to get pictures. FYI - keep a close eye on the tire pressure monitor (if so equipped) or the tire pressure in general. The tire had NO air in it, yet it does not appear to be low at all. The sidewalls of the tires are very rigid. (and No, I didnt drive on the tire - I purchased an automatic DC current pump from Wal-Mart for $10 - it pumped up the tire in less than 5 minutes! - a great little investment for any owner).

Anyhow, here are the pics from underneath the car. Sorry about the resolution - I had to compress to fit on the website. If anyone wants higher quality pics, simply send me a request.

Thanks
Chirag

It seems to have enough space for true dual exhaust. Why nobody produced it yet? it's been 3 month since car is here

Hey, nice pics, thanks. It's cool to actually see what's going on under the car. Can anyone identify the exhaust components? Like which thing is the cat? Are there two right where the manifolds come down? What's that thing that looks like a muffler in the center, I thought the muffler was in the rear? What can we take out to go faster? hehe

Thanks for the post lauderdale75. For those interested, the 'elusive' Track diffusers not yet identified by the Nissan catalog that are exclusive to Track models are the black items in the very lower left and right corners of this picture (pic #2), at the six o'clock location from the silver rear spring lower seats.

Thanks! I've been wondering what those things really were and what they looked like. I wanted to know what I was paying so much extra for!

If the "diffuser" looks like a spoiler, of sorts, for the muffler, then it is indeed there. Unfortunately, the picture doesn't capture it that well. The service tech explained that the diffuser helps minimise the amount of air that is captured between the spoiler and the undercarriage of the car. If there is a "next time" that the car is up on the lift, I'll be sure to get better pictures. Hopefully, there wont be a "next time," unless its to put in turbos!

I think you'll need a new rear anti-roll bar. You'd think that Nissan could have spent an extra $1 to make the anti-roll bar symmetrical (exhaust room on both sides).

It's really hard to tell in these shots exactly what and where the Track specific underbody air diffuses are. All Zs have underbody aerodynamic components, though the Track supposedly has 3 more pieces at the rear that the other models do not. The lower corners of shot #2 are supposedly where two of these pieces are, but its really hard to tell from that angle. All Zs have the "spoiler" infront of the muffler. The third piece is supposed to be behind the muffler, I think. Check out this link to Sport Compact Car's article for a good shot and description of the underside of their Enthusiast tester and compare.

I don't believe the diagrams of the exhaust system shows these pieces either. I'd really like it if someone could properly identify them and find part numbers; perhaps someone who has the shop manual?

Default I wonder.........

I wonder how much the exhaust note would sound (pitch and loudness) if you just removed the center muffler and replaced it with a straight pipe...........hmmmm..........

AH-HA! Look at the two black panels on either side of the exhaust "Y" in shot #5. Then compare to the pic. in the link in my last post; those panels are not present on that car. Two down, one to go...

Default Aero models?

When you opt for the Aero package on other models, do you also get these same panels that are on the Track? Or are they just on the Track? Anyone know?

Nice pics.I always wondered if the 350z had
true dual exhaust.
I see a easy way to increase power.Remove
that damn 1 into two exhaust system. It worked
wonders for my 89 corvette.
