No one knows but I doubt there will be any substantive changes for several years. Its a success so why muck with it?

I dont care that a wrx can beat a Z (or atleast some of them) ... its the appreciation u have for the car in my opinion. Im really hoping that Nissan will upgrade the Z's performance, since it still has another couple years in the new car market and that competition is getting tougher...

the Z32 stuck around for around 8 years (continued in Japan after it was hacked from the US lineup).

and this one is selling much better, so dont hold your breath.

i think if Nissan does anything they should tweak the performance.....this engine has a bit more to give...but i think a switch to the VQ40 would be a good change...more torque and tweak the intake/exhaust would be a good mate for the Z. keeping the car NA is the way to go IMO...but Nissan needs a bit more displacement.....feels like they are switching to the US car mentality....

It seems to me that styling is the strong point of the 350z, of course given what Honda [and others] have done to thier lineups recently the competition isn't very tough.

most go on a 4-5 year cycle, sometimes longer if the sales stay high.

true sports cars tend to buck that trend, though... Mazda Miata and RX-7, Nissan 300ZX, Toyota Supra MkIV, Corvette C5, etc. for example, probably due to increased R&D costs compared to a typical coupe or saloon.

as for the chassis, it can stay in service for a long time as long as the chassis can stay up to date on its own.

I read in a consumer reports that the next date of change is 2007. thats why the Z is still considered a good buy. cars that were on the verge of a body style change were consider not good buys cause they would be drastically different in one year.

like my old grand prix, i got it in 97, the first year for the new wide track look and they kept that till this past year. thank god i sold my prix before the new ones came out cause i got a hell of a resell value. now that the new style is out the wide track doesnt sell as high, looks old now.

Change the lines of the car a little bit, different rims, etc.

It'll be no more than engine tweaks and minor cosmetic spruce-ups for the Z for the next couple of years.

Yes, I purchased a 1990 300 ZX new - traded it in for a 1995 Maxima - and was sorry ever since! When the 350 Z came out I knew I would have one. Love it- however, I could be very happy driving that 1990 300 ZX .
