Bird crap caused scratches on Z
This is a true story need advise. I had just waxed my Daytona Blue Z the day before with the Meguires Tech wax, 2nd coat. the following day I'm going out to clean the window with windex when I notice bird crap somehow got on my right front panel. Thinking, I need to get this off quick it will damage the paint, I spray the windex on the bird crap and with paper towel start trying to get rid of bird crap. Its as hard as a rock and scratches the heck out of the paint (its noticable scratches).
Is this going to be very hard to fix or expensive? Don't try this with your Z. In retrospect I would have used high pressure hose spray to get the crap off.

I am guessing you probally have etching from the bird poo or really bad scratches from trying to take it off while it was still hard. You really should not use windex on the paint. Get some quick detailing spray and use that with a quality MicroFiber.
Try some meguires scratch X. It will take some time if you do it by hand. If you have a porter cable then I would recommend poorboys 2.5 polish.

in all seriousness, if it was rock hard, i would have tried lightly soaking it with the hose - not spraying it hard. Let it soak. That way it might soften up or loosen up. whip out some car soap and pour more water on it. When it looks like it's pretty much gone see if you can rub it off with a microfiber cloth and soap.
I try not to baby my car though - my car isn't wimpy so I'm not gonna treat it that way. Oh no! I broke a nail! - yeah yeah, go driving

Just as Jung918 recommended, use Scratch X. I had waxed the car the previous day and then a bird decided to release it's load on my car. I tried using a damn cloth and some water, but ended scratching the car. Not the paint but what at the time seemed like clear coat. Now that I think of it, it might have been the layer of wax along with the clearcoat that was scratched. So I did some research and someone recommended Scratch X. It was the first coat but the third one that blended in that area of the car with the surrounding area. I then finished it off with 2 coats of wax. Everything in life is now good again.
sounds more like the method of removal was the cause and not the poo itself. paper towels are the worse thing you could use, might as well have used sandpaper. as for future removals of poo the detailer spray/microfiber towel is the best.

i found the best way is to take a paper towel, soak it, set it on the poo. Come back 15 min later with a cotton rag/towel and some water toss the paper towel and wipe it off with the rag. The more dried on it is the longer you should wait.
Bird droppings usually contain sand! When you try to wipe it off, it's like using sandpaper. The way I've found to get it off is to wet a lambskin glove or cloth with warm water and a little dishwashing detergent mixed. I just wet the spot and let it sit a few minutes. It usually wipes right off then. Re-wax the spot and you're good to go until the bomber squad gets you again.
Never use paper towels for the paint! Its made from wood so it scratches. I always have a spray bottle with water. First spray that **** let it sit for couple mins then wipe off gently with a cotton towel. Stubborn **** repeat procedure.
Thanks guys for the great replies. I feel better already. I will do as you reccommended and let you know how it turns out. It was just one of those unexpected gut reactions i.e. have windex in hand and paper towels............see bird ****...........bird **** is bad for paint....get it the hell off ASAP and ohla bad end result

I don't know how you'll be able to get the scratches off, but when the bird poop is hard you can take some denaturalized alcohol to it and a razor blade. Make sure to have a good angle on the razor blade so you aren't scraping into the glass, but away. The cleaners do that on our new homes, and they also use that method on the granite.
Paper towels are too abrasive for paint finishes. I learned that the hard way with one of my previous cars. I conveniently grabbed a paper towel for a spot on my hood. Sure enough, swirl marks appeared on the dark paint finish after removing a bug splat.
But don't worry, the scratches from the bird dropping is most likely superficial and can be buffed out with another coat of polish in that area. If the new coat of polish does not work, then the careful use of a high speed buffer will definitely fix it.

I had the same thing happen to my Silver '04 Coupe, right on the top of the car by the driver's side. I wanted to get the bird crap off quickly, so used some windshield cleaning fluid and a paper towel. It left a couple very subtle scratches. My solution was to pick up a tube of Scratch-X from McGuire's; other companies make similar products. After 2 applications, you can't see the scratches at all.
