Insurance for Z
Has anyone gotten hard insurance quotes yet for their Z's? And from what insurance companies?
I'm through GEICO (28, married, no accidents, been with 'em 7 years) and I'm getting a quote of just under $200 a month for full coverage. They're giving me that "2 seat sports car" BS for the high premium.
So, I'm wondering if it would be worth my while to jump ship for insuring the car. It's only gonna be for 6-8 months outta the year, but still -- i'd like to pay less.

State Farm
600 for 6 months. I have a ticket and no defensive driving. when I was looking for insurance a couple years ago I got on progressive.com and they listed state farm as half price from geico. the problem was that Geico catalogs your record for five years and statefarm only 3. If you go back 5 years at the time I looked like a criminal, I had so many tickets, but now I'm a good boy, and I'm old.
But state farm didn't have the 350Z listed, so thats was thier price on a boxster. My agent said she couldn't imagine it would be more than that. Also Defensive driving will help a little, but I'm sure I'll have to take it shortly after my car arrives.

Thanks. Sounds like I'm getting snowed... both of your qoutes are half, or almost half, of what I'm being told.
I'll call around other insurance companies and see what they say.

Dood I got a quote from Geico about 3 months ago for the Z, and they told me $786 over 6 months. I'm 25, no tickets, and 1 not-at-fault wreck. Maybe they lied to me, or it went up since then??? Crap I hope not. I need to check again I guess.

Well, who knows.
This is Texas, and I'm 29. So maybe that has something to do w/ it. I know just by moving couties aroung here it can change your insurance. But as a comparison geico was 900 for what I'm now paying 425 for. It didn't make sense to me but whatever. I even called back and did the quote all over and still got the same result.
