Also does anyone know what parts they changed on a 05 to reduce the clutch pedal travel?

I have a 5mt 91 awd turbo talon and it is almost at 110k miles and its shifts just as good as a 2005 vehicle should. No grinding whining nothing. So it is clear that there is a serious problem with the Z's tranny. By the way are there any tranny upgrades for the Z available?

I have ridden with a couple other 350Z owners and couldn't stand the way they drove the car feathering the clutch on every shift. I feel sorry for guys with bad transmissions, but I also feel sorry for Nissan for having to replace so many of them. I just hope these people learn how to drive before 36,000 miles and they find out how much it costs to replace a tranny.

But don't the laws of probability also mention somthing about each event having to be truely random. Perhaps the event (each new transmission) is not truely random, ie. the dealer that is replacing his tranny keeps getting bad transmissions because they all came from the same assembly line on the same day.
Just a thought..

The fact that many of us have perfect transmissions means that not all of them are bad. I know that I am bucking the trend of feeling sorry for everyone, and I know that no one wants to admit to missing a gear every once in awhile, so I am going to stop replying.

LMAO well its OBVIOUS your 5th to 6th grind was caused by redlining it in 5th gear....
I mean, WHY THE HELL would 5th to 6th give me problems and no other gears... if my driving style was at fault? What, too many 6th gear burn outs?
Yeah, it pisses me off... I am gonna wait a bit to take it in so I can get all the little problems done at once.
BTW I still friggin love the car... its just has annoying ticks sometimes.

Sorry NISMOChic, I was being sarcastic but forgot the smily faces.
I think its pretty impossible to mistreat 5th and 6th gear... they are so easy to shift... So its pretty clear to me its the transmissions fault not yours
Keep in mind I get 5th to 6th grin too... it sucks

So mine is at 104k and hasn't had the tranny replaced yet. My gut told me to sell it while it has sellable mileage and figured the trannny will need to be replaced soon, along with other problems like oil leaking valves. It has like 10000 in upgrades , 5000 from the previous owner. So I'm looking to get 12-14 , and move up to a Lexus is 250. I just keep going back and forth about it, I mean I'm basically selling it out of fear kind of. But isn't it smart to sell while it has sellable miles.

Holy Batchit, 11 year old thread back from the dead lol.
104k might be "sellable miles" whatever the heck that is but $12-14? Not a chance, no matter what the "upgrades" FYI my '03 has 157,000 and still on the original tranny. and clutch for that matter.

Ancient thread. My 04.5 has 127K on the original clutch and tranny. Prior owners did question the tranny in the service records, must have been trying to downshift into first above 15 mph.
