On the way to work yesterday morning, my CEL came on. There was no change in engine performance. I made an appointment to have it checked out next week. This afternoon I started the car to come home and the light blinked then went out. Should I still take it in or wait and see if it happens again. All opinions appreciated.

I would still take it in. They should be able to pull the code. It was probably just some sensor that was out of range for a short period of time.

 

Was it the SES (Service Engine Soon) yellow light -- if so, you probably just had a loose gas cap. No need to take it in.

 

I'll second that...a loose gas cap is a common cause for the situation you described.

 

I third that. Make sure you let it click 3 times.
