[Ok not to change subject but i was talking to a rent a car manager and he told me that toyota is owned by GMC.I looked at him and said thats crap!!!! i dont beleive that...he said well look at matrix and vibe do u see resemblence.He also said look at new toyota tacoma and new colorado the share same platform..this of course got my wheels turning..he said it was bought in 1989,,Is this true..does anyone know????

 

I'm tempted to throw the BS flag, but if anyone has the time (feelin' bored?), you will find a lot of intermixing relationships when you check on members of the board. That's typically a good indicator of who does what and who has the final say in affairs.

Nevertheless, I've never heard that rumor about GMC owning Toyota.

Just to stay slightly on topic of car companies mixing with other car companies: Saturn's new SUV uses a Honda engine (GM owns Saturn).

 

HMM theres something there everyone problably remembers the eclipse and the talon and the plymouth whatcha ma call it oh yeah lazer. and the mitsu 3000gt and the stealth maybe there is some merit there but still ford is crap.

For example, the cavalier was sold in Japan as the Toyota Cavalier.
The Pointiac Vibe is just a Matrix with exterior changes, etc.

Not really. Renault has board voting rights for strategic corporate issues of the whole alliance, Nissan has no voting rights.
