I am 17 right now, and I've been saving up for this car for about a year and a half now, have about 7000. I plan to buy it in December when I have approxiametely 12000 and use it as downpayment. Now before you start saying all that crap about me being immature, I earned my money, it's not my parents paying for it. And yes I still don't have bills to pay, so I have advantages. Now that, that's out of the way, I plan to put the car under my dad's name so that the insurance would be lower. Now my dad has only got 1 ticket in the past 5 years, so his record is pretty clean. And I will be 18 in December when I buy the 2004 or posibly 2005 350z (by that time, the 2006 wil come out) , used.
Now my question is, how much do you think I'll pay ?

He's right you know. Insurance rates are different for different areas of the country. My rate would be a California resident's dream. But then again, I live in Kentucky, not the sweet state of Cali.
Secondly, each insurance company varies. When I did my insurance shopping, 2 of the most popular places gave me a rate of $1200 every 6 months. I called other insurance companies and got a rate of around $850 for 6 months. When I finally got the Z, I got a rate even lower than that.
So like Mantis3024 said, call your insurance company. If it seems too steep, bust out the yellow pages and do some shopping. Nobody says you have to stay with the same insurance company as your parents!
