Vent... I hate nissan
I just got back from a 4 hour ride back from North Carolina. The whole four hours there and the whole four hours back I had to hear that damn tire roar from my Z...
And to top it off my base Z doesn't have cruise control (my fault for not buying it). How can a 27,000 dollar car not come with cruise control?
Argh!
I want an FX 35.
Ok vent complete sorry guys.

Cruise control will make you lazy - you spent $27,000 for the car, YOU might as well drive it. Yeah, its a nice option for a car but not a necessity by any stretch of the imagination. Its like the remote control for the television. We wonder why kids are obese? Think of it as excercise .
My last car was a 97' Wranger Sport that had zipper windows, no A/C, no cruise, stunk like mildew after it rained, and got broken into constantly. In addition, it was noisy, had terrible gas mileage, and when it broke down it costed a nut to fix.
I have the '05 base (which doesn't have cruise control). I am so used to not having it.... I never even think about it. Plus, its still better than what I had.
You can call me a low class z owner, but you can't call me lazy. nuk nuk.

Sorry bout your bad experience, but you can't expect a sports car to be as quiet as other cars. The stock potenzas are part of the problem, but you have to be willing to accept some road noise if you're going to drive a sports car.

True that. Every other thread is about how something is wrong with the car. Funny thing is, whenever we have meets here Northern VA I usually ask if anyone has any of the problems *****ed about on here, and the answer more often than not is NO.
My response to threads like this; quit your complaining and take it to the dealership. If they can't fix it and you're still peed off, the sell the darn thing.

The tire roar that comes with the feathering is typically isolated to slower speeds during braking, not cruising at highway speeds, so the noise you are commenting on is probably just normal road noise generated by the car. I've ridden in a car with the feathering problem, and the problem does not exhibit at speed, but at 30 MPH under braking, it's quite loud.
It sounds like a sports car just wasn't the right choice for you. A careful test drive could have headed this off. As for the cruise control, well, point gun at foot, pull trigger. You did that one to yourself.
I've ridden in the FX35. They are very nice vehicles. I'm sure you'll be happy in one.

I just drove 101 back from Woodland Hills yesterday, 350 miles at 27.2 mpg in under 5 hours and thought my Z performed perfectly.
Were there loud sections of road, some, but most was quiet enough not to bother me or my wife. Seems concrete with the drainage carved into it is the loudest, staying out of the slow lane helped too.
I don't think it's the car.
Chris
