Default Has anybody thought about re-aiming the HIDs?

the HID's are aimed a little to low to the ground for my taste, i like bieng able to see a little further out at night.

how much work is it to re-aim them (is it even possible).

thats how HIDs are, not a very far light, just very bright and wide. if you want far, use the brights, but not with people in front of you.

aiming them higher would blind oncoming drivers(even tho most hate HIDs already) and a cap in a bad mood could probably hit you for using your brights. Im not sure how that would work. the headlights are auto leveling tho I think.

shrug.

when i compare my Z's lights to my friends s2k, i can see much farther when sitting in the s2k.

only reason i ask this i was driving through an empty parking lot tonight to cut around some traffic and i really couldnt see to well with the lights on.

hey, dont raise your HID or chicks will officially label you an *******. Every chick thats been in my car (tons yo) has gone out of her way to comment on how the cars with bright HID's suck (cuz they are too high like BMW X5, s2000, audi). The Z is exceptional above all others in that the lights are intentionally positioned such that you are a considerate driver...

just my worthless opinion

auto-aiming is for the rich folks. =) And it's just another part to break on the car. My bud has a '98 GS400 and when you turn on the lights they move until they find the right position. He said one time they didn't adjust and only pointed nearly at the ground(as well as one can with a bumper in the way). So yah, more to break.

I'm not positive, but I believe that for Europe, HIDs must be autoleveling. Again, I am not positive, but I am pretty sure.

Moroccan- Have you checked the aiming to verify whether they are in spec?

Skidazzle- Does the manual mention what the procedure for verifing the aiming of the HIDs is?

you are correct. It's the LAW. Also, they now introduce a law were every car must have a High visiblity vest(like what a cop might wear) for all passengers.

Not to mention that they're talking about requiring the hoods of cars to meet certain, get this, head impact regulations.

Basically, requiring the cars to have taller hoods (ugly) so that when a pedastrians head hits the hood there is buffer space before they contact the engine.

WTF? I'm thinking like, if a persons head is going to put a dent that massive in the hood of a car, the engine isn't going to make a lot more difference.

The Euro laws about self leveling is also the same reason Aus cars get the gay Halogen lights, but then again nothing a $450 Philips HID kit cant rectify.

Ive also read about Euro laws dictating certain design of front bumpers. Audi and VW r pioneering this with front end designers on new A3 for example, where the middle of the bumper sticks out, with the sides tapering back.....like a V shape. The only Jap car i can think of doing a similar thing is the RX8 with a material under the hood with dimples to absorb impact. Very funny stuff. The freak chance of a drunk stumbling onto the road is dictating the design of new cars. What will b next, perspex side windows so thiefs dont cut themselves flogging ur new deck....
