don't own one yet either, but from my experiences with the z...

1) make it lighter!
2) better interior materials, maybe more REAL aluminum
3) more horsepower. a number like 287sounds very weak. even 280 sounds better. (but then again so does 315)

as for cup holders, compartments, etc., i say, get yur hands off the latte and on the steering wheel and DRIVE!

Recessed door handles and a sunroof wouldn't hurt. It was 85 degrees in So Cal today and a sunroof would have been sweet!

Default That's the way...

I LIke It ... Uh Huh Uh Huh!!!

great job.
That seems to suit the car quite well, better than T'Tops and easier done and more practical tnan trying to get a moon roof disappearing.
Could be tricky getting section stored in the hatch area I suspect, but there has to be a way.

Hope Nissan is checking this site.

1. Tail lights that COMPLETELY light up. (i.e., no reflectors in the triangle section, bulbs instead.)

2. More horsepower. 300 even would be nice.

3. A motorized nav panel so it's just as cool closing as it is opening.

Hmm, three things I would change about my Z....

1. That it has arrived already.

2. That it has no orange peel.

3. Through a glitch in the dealer's computer, it says I've paid for it in full! (That way I've got several thousand dollars that was going to be the downpayment to "invest" in mods when I can get 'em!)

1- More power 100HP or so.

2. Mechanical LSD and better rubber.

3. Better paint and new colors.

4. A Targa top like Viral's Photoshop job providing no sacrifice on stiffness.

The paint should be improved on all models. My other wishes should be part of the FI model for $10,000 more, or less.
With a package like that I would be on another order list in a split second.

Unhappy CRUISE CONTROL ON THE BASE MODEL

For the money, the Z is a steal; however, the lack of cruise control on the base model is b******t. I think it would be difficult (if not impossible) to find another car in this price range that does not come with cruise control.

Default Don't agree

For the price of the base you may not get cruise like other cars in it's price range. The base car is a steel for what it offers for it's price. It is a BASE model and for the price break you have to expect some compromises or losses.

BUT, it offers a lot of other things those similar priced cars can't in performance. Would you rather trade the performance (Hp, Torque, handling, stellar looks) advantage for the cruise?
If so, I guess those competing with Z are saying, why doesn't my similarly priced car have the performance capabilities of the Z?

That's the only outlet in the car. I think most people are hardwiring their detectors to free up the outlet for a cell phone charger or other things.

I Luv This Ride!

1. Adjustable Side Bolsters on Driver's seat. I am only 6'2" and never thought I had a particularly broad back until I sat in this Z. After a 1/2 hour or so of driving, the sides of my upper back get a bit achey. I think that is due to the narrow dimensions of the upper seat. While I understand the attempt to envelope the driver for stability, I would like to see an adjustment **** for more flexibility. Until that happens, I am having to use an inflatable bladder from Relax The Back store. Works okay, but Not convenient.

2. I know I am lazy, but I love the Sound System steering wheel controls I have on my SLK320 and 300M. On the Chrysler, they are on the backside which I find works really well.

3. Valentine One built into Rear View Mirror. Available aftermarket, but you have to trade out factory electric mirror.

3. Factory installed front-end protection coat? from rock chips. More resilient paint.

Ooops. Can't count too good.

For the one outlet for the car.. I bought a dual plug to banch into 2 outlets.. I put in an extention from one.. ran it under the passenger seat.. and use that outlet at the front of the seat near the stick shift.. USE that one to plug in the radar detector.. THIS prevents the cord streaching across the whole car..
NOW the cord goes straight down to the bottom of the passed seat ..
AND use the extra one for charging the phone.. if i need to.. I am quite pleased with this for extra $12.00 for the extra 2 pieces of small equipment..

Default 3 things

1. Optional rubber
2. Better sound system
3. Better paint

P.S. t-tops or sunroof would compromise chassis rigidity and hamper handling; should be options if needed, car should continue with fixed roof as standard.

Boomer--my opinion, use it or lose it.

1. Exterior: Sunroof
2. Mechanical: Racing suspension tuning
3. Interior: More room in trunk, meaning make the rear bar not as thick, there's new age material now

Here are three nitpicks after having the car for a week:

Steering wheel radio controls

Auto headlights and DRLs (may investigate a kit, if they are worth a crap)

No external antenna

OK, I couldn't stop:

Real glove box easily accessed.

The most serious to me (ie, the one that probably costs the most to fix):

Retain firm ride, but get rid of the porpoise effect on concrete

1) Color choices - As stated a yellow would be sweet, so would a grey like the Audi TT

2) Standard rear camera for the NAV unit. Can't see a damn thing when backing out so this would be helpful.

3) Optional rear storage cover / pull - Not like there is any room back there, but it would be nice to have something to hide items in the back. Would also have to integrate such that the rear brace doesn't get covered, that thing looks sweet!

Have had the car for a month and love it.Had to work very hard to find 3 things to improve. Nothing major, but here they are:
1) better sound system
2) more convenient glove compartment for storage of documents
3) accessable interior hatch release.

I'm tossing out the exterior/mechanical/interior restrictions placed on the thread. Here are my top three changes:

1) more accessible storage; glove compartment
2) better more accessible cup holders
3) stereo controls on steering wheel

Whatthehell, I'm already breaking rules, I'll put in a fourth:

4) I hate the A/C coming on by itself and unavailable recirculate in any defrost mode. The excuse is "safety factor" but I'm a grown-up, I can control my own freaking air system thank you very much!

These are all "livability" factors, easily changed by Nissan and relatively minor. I love the exterior and mechanics of this car!

I'll back that one up, the friggin' A/C is annoying as HELL. If I don't want it on, and want to recirculate air, I should be able to! Also, Nissan said you can access the glove box behind the passenger seat while driving? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.............

The single cupholder is in a great place though, and obviously very cool mechanism. They should NOT change that, although the other two "cupholders" are ridiculously ghetto.
