how much would you pay....
uh, 1200 miles = NOT new. They are trying to fob off their demo car on you at new car prices. It has probably been driven hard from day 1.
Try haggling with them, start at 26K and fight for every dollar. When they say it's new, laugh at them.
seriously.
The options the car has will significantly change the price; NAV will add anywhere between 1 & 2 grand (it's 2k new), airbags are pricy, etc. etc...
a 2005 Performance with no options will MSRP (including destination) at 31.4k, and if you haggle well, you can get one for 28-29k + tax, title, registration.

Too expensive if you ask me. Try and get it lower.
+1 on the new laugh thing. LOL
That is the worst lie! Just because it may not have been titled doesn't mean it isn't used. It's probably the one car they chose to let everyone test drive so they could keep all the other cars on low miles. Dealers do this so they only have to try and sell one high mileage "new" car.

1200 miles = used car (demo car).
I would think twice before getting this car.
Lets say that average test-drive is 10 miles => around 120 people test drove this car. And everybody was beating on it hard...
First inspect the car - take your time. Drive it for a while, make sure everything is OK.
Get a letter saying that if you find anything wrong with this vehicle you have the right for a full refund (or at least that they will fix it).
I would say pay like 5k under the invoice.

$29k OTD with 1200 miles sounds like a good deal. But I would see if you could swing a deal for an '05 Perf. for a little more. Dealer demo's do tend to be beat on.

That's a killer deal . . . I bought my Performance 03 when they first came out for about 30K OTD. My next vehicle will be a low mileage used one. No reason to toss money away on depreciation and 1st year defects (albeit minor).G
You can get a brand spanking new 05 350 Z Enthusiast out the door @ 29k if you can bargain for that long. If your set on the Performance model, I would guess 29k OTD for an 04 is fair. Then on the other hand 05 ...........

not much harm can come from 1200 miles of test driving a car...there isn't enough open road around car dealerships to really beat on it that much...90% of the time the salesman will go along on the test drive so i doubt anyone is reving to 4k and dropping the clutch with the salesman in the passengers seat around a bunch of traffic... Now if the sales man took the car home a few times i can see them redlining it once or twice...or doing burnouts...but that even gets old...alot of guys on this site do burn outs all the time, whats the problem? there is none. Yeah, the break in period is at 1200 miles, but some people don't believe in a break-in.
