Default Anyone ever thought of getting a supra?

My friend is getting a tt supra in the near future and he showed me a few in the $25k price range. I was shocked. I never thought they went for less than 30k. Now temptations gotten to me and Im thinking about picking one up. Any of you thought about getting one before/after getting the Z? I've grown to love the Z and don't know if I wana get rid of it after such a short time.

I saw one yesterday that the owner kept really really nice! It was black and the paint finish was supurb! I just was not comfortable buying used.

As an owner of both a 97 Supra TT (stock) and 03 350Z Track, I can say that the Supra is light years ahead of the Z in terms of acceleration and general materials quality. The 350Z 6-sp tranny is superior to the Supra's Getrag cluncker. Braking is equally impressive in both cars.

I suggest driving both cars before deciding. I would rather have a new 350Z than a trashed-out, modded mkiv Supra TT. Low mileage Supra's TT are very rare, but represent a superior vehicle compared to the Z.

Yeah the only thing that gives me a second thoughts is it being used and probebly driven very aggresively. But from what I've heard those cars are rock solid.

Most of the Supra owners that has low miles really take care of their investment. They usually know that the Supra is a well respected and wanted car. I have seen some that were sold at the original price that the original owner paid. These things are hot!

I think that most people age 40 or more who pick up a supra are not lookin too much at the engine cuz its gonna get a full rebuild anyhow, WHo would buy a supra and leave it stock??? I know i wouldnt.

Nah, those "old people" dont wanna hassle with a used car if theyre gonna leave a car stock, they more fixated on ridee quality and dependability, they dont wanna have to work on something.

IMO. the supra is overpriced because of movies like F&F that made everyone think the supra is the best thing on earth, and now people know they can get more than the cars worth because of this mindset. I see alot of supras, but less that like 1/100th of em are the TT, allot of people just want em cuz theyre in that movie.

I saw a used 94 Supra TT for $28k back in 97 at a Toyota dealer. Thats when my dad bought a new Avalon. I wasnt into cars back then. But I was impressed on that Supra. They are rare because of the steep price. A new one was over 45k.

My friend flew to SanDiego to pick up his 98 SupraTT with 45,000 miles on it. He is waiting for the warranty to go out [Sept] so he can put a bigger turbo on it...record for stock internals so far is 1017hp...He's out to break it!

Got a few more, but don't wanna edit the plates out
BTW- I drive the G...the Z is a friends

P.S. - A local Chinese Chef is selling his 96 or 97 SupraTT. I believe he told me 25,000 but that could probably be negotiated. Also know of someone in Dallas selling a TT for a good price thats in VERY good condition!

I agree that the car was popularized by that stupid movie but don't think its overpriced at all. You can get a moderately modified (400-500whp) supra in the 23-29k price range and it has the potential to go beyond 700hp. Plus, theyre VERY nice looking cars. Thats why I want one. The Z has killer looks but will cost more money to get it going faster

O, im not any means against the supra. Its engine is solid as hell, its looks are hawt, just hard to find good qality ones. THe value statement i made was a little bold, they probably just hold their value well. Just was trying to say theyre a bit overrated cuz of movies and stuff. I would never pick up a modded 400/500 hp supra, youd end up changing all the stuff to the stuff "you" like and if your going bigger, your gonna need a full engine rebuild anyway. THey are cheaper to get goin faster but id rather spend all that money it takes on somethin else.

Im a sucker for the RX-7 LOL.

O btw. I would definitely have to disagree on the comment regarding finding a nicely tuned 4-500 hp supra in good condition in the 23-29k range, a good quality one with those specs will be over 30 for sure. Might be able to find a non turboed one, or a crappy turbo one with no mods for that price range. Ive researched this crap. I was actually lookin to get one a lil while back.

You should keep us posted if the wheels on that Supra are as tasteless in person as they are in the picture.
