how do you launch??
If you dump the clutch at 4k and you have the stock tires, you will light 'em up all the way through first. Fun, but not fast.
Even if you dump and 2k and get into the gas you will spin your tires excessively. If you want to dump the clutch do it at 2k or so, and wait 'till it hooks before you give it gas. If you hammer the gas anywhere in first, it'll break free.

Hey Dragon, if your new to stick shifting and you dump the clutch at 4K, there might be a lot of fun had (for those watching you
)
You'll be well off to get the hang of "rolling" off the line untill you're much more comfortable with it. Also, if you have the VDC off, you'll get a feel for how to regulate tire spin without having the computer engage the breaks on you. Have fun, and maybe practice in a remote area at first.

Don't dump the clutch. Let it out enough to get you going with out spinning the wheels. Once your moving then let it complete out.

actually, you don't want to rev and hold it. you want to "blip" the throttle and time your clutch release with the downstroke of the gas pedal. by hitting the gas and holding, you open the injectors and put the motor under compression for the first instant when you hit it, but it tapers off once you hold the throttle. by actuating the gas pedal and releasing the clutch during a depression, you are engaging the gear while there is a load on the motor and you will take off faster and will be less likely to bog the gear.
give it a try.
