Seems funny because I also have an Infiniti I35 (yes, 2 VQ35 powered cars) and no peel, Z plenty of peel, but I don't care. I would have never noticed if it wasn't for all the whining here.

Default Almost no peel on my z

The Paint on my z is very good almost no peel!I've seen a lot of crap out there and I've seen some really nice paint jobs.I had a 98 Trans am and it was orange peeled on the sides big time but the top surfaces were great!Lets face it your not going to get a custom job from the factory most of the time.

If that was the case then I would think they would put all the lovely orange peel of the top surfaces where it would do the most good for UV protection, instead of on the sides.

The Infiniti dealer needs to be slapped. HARD!

explain this....

my '99 Ford Ranger has alot less orange peel than my Z. My Ranger cost me $16,000 my Z over twice that.

Maybe Nissan should send the Z's to the Ford plant for painting!

There is some OP on my Z but not enough to bother me. It is not all that bad. And last Sunday i was at a outlets shopping center and I parked next to a brand spankin' new BMW, er, the SUV one. I compared the too very closely and it had just as much OP as my Z. That made me feel way better about it and i closed the case on that one.

OK,

First of all,

Yes, most cars have some degree of noticeable orange peel.

However, the Z, especially in the black and blue colors, has way more orange peel than any other vehicle I have ever owned or observed!

So how can you say this is a stupid complaint? Maybe because your Z doesn't have it. Does that mean no one else does? Please, don't waste our time.

I have to agree with this. *ALL* The Z's I've seen have had a *BAD* case of the peel. Sure, most all cars have it, but it's not to the degree of the Z, IMO.

Or an early 90's car.

(by the way, I've seen a painted DeLorean. I have no clue how they got any of that paint to stick at all on the stainless, but it was peeling all over. What a travesty...)

Would you guys rather have a Z with orange peel or a frikkin POS without orange peel? I could care less about orange peel because this car kicks ****. A bit of orange peel isn't going to drive me crazy.

I was in a turning lane today waiting for the light to change and noticed all the orange peel in the lane next to me. Neons, Grand Cheroke's, all later model cars...

Its just the crappy water-based paint used to reduce harmful emissions. There isn't much we can do to avoid it.
